Dragon Re-spins with up to 3 wild reels
Dragon’s Flame (Blueprint Gaming): Review
Dark, gothic and creepy – Reel Time Gaming’s old Dragon’s Flame is back for another round, this time provided by UK-based developer Blueprint Gaming who’s releasing it under license from the Australians. This 5×3, 10-payline slot comes with only one single feature – the Dragon Re-spins where you can land instant wins of up to 1000 times your stake. Like most RTG creations, it’s old school, straightforward, and volatile, with nearly all of the RTP allocated to the one feature. Playing it, you can almost feel the velvet carpet of the land-based casino under your feet. Available from 10 cents all the way up to 250€ per spin across all devices, this highly volatile offering can take you on quite a rollercoaster.
Visually, it’s identical to the original down to the last detail. Granted, having been an old FOBT machine, it looks dated, but that is, of course, also part of the charm when it comes to a game like this. With cold gothic stone visuals, symbols on the reels include 9, 10, J, Q, K and A royals as well as more rewarding goblets, sceptres, king’s crowns and diamonds. The latter is the most valuable, giving you 100 times your stake for 5 on a payline. The Dragon is the wild and substitutes for all symbols.
Dragon’s Flame (Blueprint Gaming): Features
Dragon’s Flame is all about the Dragon wild. It appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 only and is quite a rare sight. When it hits, the Dragon wild expands to fully cover its reel, initiating a re-spin at the same time while it’s held on the reels. This is known as the Dragon Re-spin feature.
During the re-spin, all regular symbols now appear stacked on the reels and will connect adjacent to each other, which means you can land winning combinations on the 3 middle reels. The maximum award of 1000 times your stake comes from landing all 3 dragon wilds together with 2 full stacks of diamonds on the remaining two reels. That’s pretty much all there is to it.
Dragon’s Flame (Blueprint Gaming): Final Verdict
If you’re into retro slots from providers such as Merkur and Novomatic, you will most definitely appreciate Dragon’s Flame. If you’re an inexperienced player, it’s good to know that these games are either on or off and are usually quite brutal, swallowing you whole without even chewing. It’s definitely not a game for the faint hearted or those who have a tendency to get stuck in tilt mode. Unless you land some dragon wilds here and there, you’re screwed. It’s extremely rare to land more than 1 dragon, but if you do, the rewards can be great, especially if you get on a roll.
Dragon’s Flame keeps it simple and stupid for those of us who wish to get away from all the modern, feature-heavy slots for a while. It might not be our first choice as there are far better old school slots out there from Merkur and Novomatic, that also offer higher payouts, but we’ll definitely try our luck with a few big bets here and there whenever we feel like chasing the dragon.
