Relax Gaming is one of the up-and-comers we expected to have its big breakthrough this year, and though the company was off to a flying start with the release of Temple Tumble Megaways earlier this year, things have been a bit slow since then. Out of the games that have followed since then, King of Kings and Caveman Bob have been quite decent, while others, such as the recently released Jupiters Choice, have been so incredibly dull that we even failed to muster enough enthusiasm to review them.

While Relax Gaming's one and only Megaways title worked out very well for them, the studio has also demonstrated that they can manage without it. Speaking of, if you feel like taking a little break from all the intricate feature-heavy, multi-payline slots for a while, Ignite the Night could prove to be a nice retreat for you. Set on a paradise island and relying on only 10 paylines, this gorgeously designed 5-reel, 3-row slot comes with a main game feature known as the Fire Multipliers feature where a random high-paying symbol will have a 5x multiplier. The same feature can also randomly boost your high-paying symbol winning combinations with multipliers of up to 50x. Ignite the Night is a scenic and beautifully designed slot with a Hawaiian theme. A sunset beach scene forms the backdrop to the reels here where you'll also see a beach bar, palm tree lighting, and a rowboat bobbing in the water. The symbols, which have a traditional feel, are made up of coconuts, pineapple fruits, watermelons and star fruits. The features in Ignite the Night are few, but powerful. In the main game, you'll benefit from the Fire Multiplier which randomly adds a 5x multiplier to high-paying symbols. If you land a winning combination made up of high-paying symbols, the same feature can also randomly boost your win with multipliers that can get upgraded to 5x, 10x or 50x, something that can lead to payouts of up to 1000 times your stake in the main game.

It's all about the Free Spins round here which is triggered when you land 3 scatter symbols on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously. Starting with 10 spins, 2 or 3 scatter symbols in view during the feature will award 5 or 10 additional spins respectively. During the Free Spins, any high paying symbol that is part of a winning spin will receive a multiplier upgrade on each win.

For example, if you land a win with the guitar symbol, all guitar symbols will be upgraded first to 5x, then to 10x on the next win, and finally to 50x. Naysayers may argue that it's mechanically repetitive and that the main game is frustratingly unforgiving with little help from the single main game feature. Indeed, Ignite the Night is not a slot that will float everyone's boat, especially not those who rely on games rich in features to keep them entertained.

Playing Ignite the Night, you can expect a lot of ass-whopping dry spells in the main game along with plenty of scatter teases adding insult to injury. But once you trigger the feature and get a taste of its potential, it instantly becomes harder to move on. With upgraded multipliers, and a high probability of retriggers, the excitement builds with each spin that could potentially lead to wins of over 5700 times your stake. We have to say, it's refreshing to see a relatively simple 10-payline slot being pulled off so well. It's an excellent alternative to old Novo classics such as Flame Dancer if you're in the mood for some hula hula.
