Lucky Gold Pot: Slot Overview
After a bizarre run of slots that were obvious copies of other studios’ work, we were curious to see a more original game slide off the Stakelogic workbench. What has emerged is Lucky Gold Pot, an Irish themed game built around a free spins bonus round where win values are tripled. Okay, so it doesn’t sound like a furnace of originality, but let’s not be too hasty to judge. Irish themed slots are famous for their upbeat ambience, so let’s give Lucky Gold Pot the benefit of the doubt for now while we coast through magical, leprechaun populated countryside.
If you’ve played one or two games from this genre, you’ll be well acquainted with the view. Going by slots, it often seems there are only two locations in Ireland. One is the rolling green hills; the other is the fecund old forests. Lucky Gold Pot has gone with the second option, so the gaming occurs amidst trees dropping leaves, creepers, grass, and what might be the leprechaun’s house tucked away on the left side of the screen like a hobbit hole. The music is jolly as all heck, and try as you might, it is really hard not to like these traditional Irish songs. Sonically at least, Lucky Gold Pot has a neat Temple Bar/The Monaghan Twig knees-up feel to it, which really sets the mood.
Played on a 5×3 arranged game panel, Lucky Gold Pot provides 20 fixed paylines to land wins on. Statistically, it’s a mixed bag. Potential is a major surprise, yet it has been paired with a low volatile math model (2/5), making for an unusual blend. RTP comes in a multitude of forms, so if you want the best return, be on the lookout for the 95.92% version. Bets come in two forms as well. Regular bets range from 20 p/c to £/€20 per spin or you’ll have to double the cost if you wish to activate the Super Stake feature. Doing so increases the number of scatter symbols on the reels for a higher free spins frequency.
Players pocket a win when matching symbols land adjacently from the first reel, and there are eleven normal paying symbols to work with. The first six are vine-draped 9-A card ranks; the rest are mugs of beer, pipes, horseshoes, green hats, and four-leaf clovers. Again, standard stuff, where premiums are worth 2.5 to 7.5 times your stake for a five of a kind win. In a twist, the leprechaun in Lucky Gold Pot is actually a lady rather than a jolly leprechaun lad and appears on the wild symbol. Lady leprechaun wilds land on all reels to substitute any normal pay symbol. They are worth a fair bunch of coins, too, as five of them across a pay line is worth 450x the bet. Also, if a wild is used in a win, the value of it is doubled. This can only occur once, no matter how many wilds are involved.
Lucky Gold Pot: Slot Features
If you are a player who enjoys traditional features rather than the latest fandangled gimmicks, you may appreciate Lucky Gold Pot. Here, players come across free spins and a gamble feature.
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters in the base game awards 1x, 4x, or 80x the bet, plus 15 free spins. While free spins are active, they can be retriggered in the same way. During this bonus round, the only change to be aware of is that all wins are multiplied by x3.
Every time players hit a winning combination in the base game, they have the option of gambling the amount. To do so, choosing the correct suit or colour of a downturned card will quadruple or double your money, respectively. Failed gambles lose the lot. This feature can be deactivated entirely if you’re not into it.
Lucky Gold Pot: Slot Verdict
As an Irish themed slot, Lucky Gold Pot has a fantastic vibe, though this is mainly due to the boot-tapping, hand-clapping soundtrack. You can picture pint glasses of Guinness sliding down bar surfaces, as revellers getting good-naturedly rowdy like a Dublin crowd raucously celebrating life in the Emerald Isle. The only issue with the soundtrack is when wins hit in the base game, the music pauses. So, if you’re trying to get your imitation Riverdance on, then wins jarringly interrupt the flow. Switch to mute, and the fun factor takes a major dip since the rest of the game is pretty standard – with one glaring exception.
This anomaly is Lucky Gold Pot’s max win figure of 24,000x the bet. Not to put anyone off attempting to uncover the pot of gold, but a bit of arithmetic makes it a rather challenging prospect. Then again, a full screen of wilds would technically be worth 9,000x – triple that to 27,000x during free spins. Is it possible to do so? Perhaps only the sprites of Ireland or Stakelogic’s mathematicians know the answer to that question.
Whether such a figure provides motivation to play Lucky Gold Pot or not is questionable since the rest of the game is rather average, comprised as it is of regular visuals, regular albeit enjoyable music, and basic features. Slots have pretty much been tripling win values in free spins since the dawn of iGaming time, so Lucky Gold Pot doesn’t score much in the originality department.
Basically, Lucky Gold Pot is a low volatile Irish countryside drive by with banging fiddler led tunes, which might, just might, lead to a veritable pot of gold via its big potential, should the leprechaun lady bestow her favours. What the probability of achieving the max multiplier is would be great to know, though.
Lucky Gold Pot won’t be making any headlines but is still accessible enough to be enjoyed by just about anyone.
