Mystic Panther Treasures of the Wild: Slot Overview

Mystic Panther Treasures of the Wild is an online slot from a software provider called Infinity Dragon Studios, working in association with Microgaming. Infinity Dragon is a relatively new studio with a limited number of releases to date. Aside from having a pretty cool logo of a dragon coiled in the shape of an infinity symbol, there's scant information online about the studio. As such, we went into Mystic Panther unsure of quite what to expect. What we found, though, was a run of the mill game, packing free spins with full reel wilds and a standard Link&Win feature.

The background picture is kind of nice; let's give Mystic Panther that. The game is situated in a murky, jungle location, its foreboding visuals clashing sharply with the incredibly upbeat music. It might've been interesting if the studio had built on the dank background and created something uniquely heavy. But that's not Mystic Panther's MO, where feeling chipper appears to be the core goal. This is achieved by the aforementioned upbeat music, bright symbols, and a selection of classic slot wild animals. To sum up, Mystic Panther has a Mega Moolah in the jingle vibe, without the tremendous progressive attached.

Turning to the numbers side of the game, Mystic Panther stacks up quite well. Be aware there is a trio of RTP configurations, and the highest value is 96.52%. All are highly volatile while firing off wins at a rate of 30.33%, or 1 in 3 spins more or less. Playable from 20 p/c to £/€20 per spin, Mystic Panther is available to play on desktop computers as well as handheld devices.

Mystic Panther is played on a 6-reel, 3-row game grid, which provides 729 ways to win. This happens when at least two of the top premium or three of any other symbol type lands on adjacent reels, starting from the left-hand side. For the lows, we get 10-A card ranks, paying out 1.25 to 4 times the stake for six of a kind, whereas six high-value meerkats, zebras, elephants, or the indigenous lady symbol pay 5x to 10x the bet. Where the panther comes into play is as the wild symbol. Panther wilds appear on reels 2, 3, 4, or 5 and substitute for all symbols except free spins or Link&Win symbols.

Mystic Panther Treasures of the Wild: Slot Features

Mystic Panther Treasures of the Wild slot

It's all about the two bonus games in Mystic Panther – free spins and the Link&Win since there are no extras to be had in its main game.

Free Spins

When 3 gold mask scatters land on reels 1, 3 and 5, 10 free spins are awarded, plus a cash prize worth 1 times the bet. During free spins, there is a random chance full reels become wild. That's pretty much the only selling point of the bonus. On the last note, players are able to retrigger the round as well by landing 3 scatters.

Landing at least 6 Link&Win symbols triggers the Link&Win bonus game. The triggering symbols are held in place at the start of the feature, and 3 respins are awarded. If new Link&Win symbols hit, they lock in place too, and respins are set back to 3. When each position is filled or respins go to zero, the feature ends, and the symbols in view are awarded. Link&Win symbols display a value of 1-5x the bet, or the Mini, Minor, or Major bonus prize, worth 10x, 25x, or 500x the bet, respectively. If 18 Link&Win symbols land, the Grand prize of 5,000x the bet is awarded.

Mystic Panther Treasures of the Wild: Slot Verdict

Whether you're a big hold-and-win fan or not, it's unlikely Mystic Panther has much you haven't seen before. Initially, one point of interest was the use of a 6-reel, 729 ways to win game panel. A few spins later and the lack of creativity was apparent, quickly shrivelling enthusiasm. From the vanilla base game to a couple of standard bonus rounds, this is a slot that blends a common theme with equally common features.

As mentioned above, the background imagery isn't so bad. If Infinity Dragon had kept pushing in an original direction with it, they might have ended up somewhere a lot more interesting. Just thinking out loud here, but imagine something like Mental, in a jungle full of dangerous beasts and savage inhabitants. Too outside the box? Clearly so for Infinity Dragon, which has clung to conventionality like a baby sloth to its mum. If players do like the look and basic features, then Mystic Panther can deliver rewards, it should be said. As well as the 5,000x Grand prize, potential as a whole can reach 14,000x the bet (though it's hard to see how it would be achievable). If big numbers trump innovation, then maybe Mystic Panther might be okey-dokey.

Mystic Panther started on the back foot after we quickly clocked there wasn't a whole lot of mysticism going on, and it floundered in mediocrity from there. The main issue is pretty much everything here has been seen before, and in most cases, there are more interesting counterparts elsewhere. It's not just the big things, but the smaller details as well. For example, the screen barely bothers to change when the Hold&Win feature triggers. Lack of imagination like this means the game's numbers might be solid, yet there's more to a good game than a decent win figure, and Mystic Panther is lacking in that regard.

Mystic Panther is almost as devoid of creativity as it is of actual mystic bits.
