Not being too impressed by NextGen’s work we have kind of avoided reviewing their slots in the past. But here’s one that caught us by surprise
I was a little reluctant to try this at first and didn’t expect myself to write a review about it, but only after a few spins I started to get into it and recognised it’s potential.
The game has 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 paylines. RTP is 96.6%.
The symbols themselves in this slot don’t hold any impressive value and don’t expect any 1000x base game hits on this as it is probably more on the medium volatile side. The key here is the split function and the massive amount of free spins possible to trigger. See, there is this Samurai guy and he’s very active. He will attack the screen randomly every now and then and split symbols for you to increase your wins. And this guy splits everything – that goes from normal symbols, to wilds to even scatter symbols. With the splitting feature the game can award you with a multiplier of 32x.
There is also a random feature in the base game which sort of mimics the bonus. It’s called “Warrior Spin” and when this appears all low value symbols are removed. When we tried this it didn’t seem too hard to trigger and we got at least a couple of decent 25x wins on it.
Music & Sound
Before we go into the bonus I must say this. The game looks really good in my opinion, with a cartoonish theme and the music is amazing. There’s a funky slapp bass kind of thing going on which is really groovy and that I simply fell in love with.
To trigger the bonus you need to land at least 3 scatter symbols. As mentioned earlier, the Samurai dude can appear randomly and split any symbol which means that even if you have a scatter tease Mr Samurai can appear and split them to trigger the bonus anyway. In fact, with the help of Samurai you can get up to 480 free spins if you land all 5 scatters which in turn gets split! How bow dah!
Every spin in the bonus is a Warrior Spin with all low value symbols removed.
During my trial I managed to get 70 free spins resulting in a 475x win. Not bad at all. Despite “Super wins” and “Epic wins”, any single big win didn’t seem to be amazing by itself, but accumulating a lot of free spins this has some really nice potential.
Maybe I just had an extremely lucky run trying this game out and I’m not sure how fun it would be on a cold run since base game in itself is honestly not that interesting. Also, it’s not very fun to trigger only 5 free spins without retriggers as single wins don’t pay that much even for an Epic win. However, if you happen to be lucky and trigger the amount if free spins I did this game turns into pure joy with a bonus that seems to be able to go on for ages. You can just sit back and enjoy the awesome slapp bass. Because of this I do recommend this slot. At least it’s better (in my opinion) than what both Yggdrasil and NetEnt have managed to release lately.
