Noble Sky: Overview

Take to the skies in air-bound slot Noble Sky produced by Microgaming partners Neon Valley Studios. A pinch of imagination will help players get the most out of this game. Or, in the studio’s own words; ‘an epic adventure in search of fame and fortune.’ Wealthy benefactors are after a vault of antiquity, requiring certain keys to pry open. In reality, players get respins, wandering wilds, multiplier trails, and several jackpots to spin for.

Noble Sky has a flying steampunk theme which is a surprisingly populous slot category. Thunderkick had a solid go with Riders on the Storm, while Kalamba’s Sky Hunters shares a similar look, to give just two examples. The theme typically revolves around a gentleman explorer/inventor type circa the nineteenth century, piling on plenty of brass, top hats, and all manner of contraptions. Noble Sky’s 5-reel, 25-payline game area does indeed sit amidst a heap of cogs as at traverses the skies. Neon Valley has hit on a pleasant look, with some sweet animations livening the action.

Playable from 25 p/c to $/€50 per spin, Noble Sky provides low-intensity gaming from its casual-friendly math model. It’s the kind of game that can theoretically stretch a bankroll due to a medium/low volatility and high win rate. The hit frequency is 44.45%, meaning nearly every other spin will turn up a winner – or 1 in 2.25 to be exact. Players also get an RTP rate of 96.12%, or slightly above average. The captain of this airship has plotted a fairly smooth course for his passengers to chase jackpots.

On the low end of the paytable are 9-A royals in a sort of Wild West font, followed by a compass, and a top hat as the mids. Three character symbols make up the premiums, including two females, and a captain. Values for the character symbols aren’t bad at 10 to 20 times the stake for five of a kind.

Players are assisted by two wilds in pulling together wins – the stacked wild and the Airship Wild. They both come in 1x3 size, landing on reels 2-5. Wilds substitute for any regular pay symbol, while the Airship Wild is incorporated in the features we’ll cover next.

Noble Sky: Features

Noble Sky - Respins

To be fair, there aren’t a lot of extras weighing this airship down, two, in fact - a base game exciter, and a bonus game. The Airship Wild is the preferred wild during the base game. When it fully covers a reel, the Respin bonus is triggered. On each respin, the Airship Wild stack moves one reel to the left. When the Airship Wild moves off the leftmost reel, there is one final respin to end the feature.

In addition, the respin feature comes with a Multiplier Trail which increases on each subsequent respin. The first, second, third, fourth, and fifth respin applies a multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x5, or x10 respectively. Neither wild nor coin jackpot symbols may appear during respins.

The final feature is the Vault Bonus. To the bottom left of the reels you’ll see a sort of pot of gold thing - this is the vault. On any paid spin, a gold coin may appear, attached to one of the regular symbols. These coins are collected in the vault, granting a chance of triggering the Vault Bonus.

When active, the Vault Bonus clears the reels and displays 12 coins on the screen. Players pick coins to reveal coloured items associated with a specific jackpot. Uncovering three of the same item awards you the respective prize. The four jackpots are Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand worth 15x, 40x, 500x, or 5,000x respectively.

Noble Sky: Verdict

It seems Neon Valley has picked out a target audience and done a decent job of designing Noble Sky to cater to its needs. Hardened gamblers after a healthy lashing of volatility are best to look away now. Noble Sky is better suited to players who like less turbulence when having a cheeky wager or two. However, the potential isn’t bad if you factor in the 5,000x from the Grand Jackpot.

Noble Sky can be a pretty uneventful flight though. The base game is devoid of major thrills a lot of the time. The hit rate is high though, producing a steady stream of wins to keep players occupied as the gold coins pile up.

Should they trigger the Vault Bonus then prepare for an intense spate of picks. If you don’t manage to strike the big one, then it’s back to the base game to restart the coin collection. Respins do provide some in-flight entertainment at times, provided they land as far to the right as possible. Despite that, Noble Sky could be classed as long haul flight.

On a positive note, Noble Sky looks nice, the theme is entertaining, and there is the allure of the Grand Jackpot lurking at all times. If you like a list of features or a more volatile ride you won’t find much satisfaction spinning Noble Sky’s reels. However, others after a low key journey through the clouds, with regular wins providing a constant dopamine kick, may find that in Noble Sky.
