Hot Tuna
Pragmatic Play
January 17, 2026
Hot Tuna is a big bass-like that isn't awful, so if you want an alteration of the big bass game, here's one. Like most big bass-likes, the base game is just there to get you to the bonus. Once in the bonus what you want is for the fish to stack up in the cans until you fill up the hot can. The fact that the fishermen give you a free spin in this game makes it feel like the max win could be huge, but it's sadly capped at 2,500x. All this just amounts to shuffling the big bass thesis papers around, so to speak, but it's an ok game. The production value and wow factor isn't there to elevate the otherwise very average game experience. This reminds me of a game from one of those old school flash game sites of years past (games that were mostly bad or mediocre, but we as kids had lower standards back then). This game needed an additional mechanics to have some more staying power. What we're left with instead is just forgetful averageness. Hot Tuna's main thing of stacking the tunas in the cans during the bonus to retrigger and unlock multiplier symbols is decently satisfying the first couple of times, but it lost it's luster fairly quickly for me, and I don't see myself returning to this anytime soon, if ever.

Fire Stampede 2
Pragmatic Play
January 14, 2026
Fire Stampede 2 is a fairly decent slot game that, alongside the original, are clearly the best amongst all the slots that use this Connect & Collect mechanic; it is more polished than the other games using C&C and fits the mechanic much better into it's overall package (overall gameplay, visuals, and theme). C&C can definitely deliver some satisfying moments, and compounded with FS2's stampede symbol, and the fiery bison's random 'stomp' chance, which can summon C&C symbols, there were a few times during my gameplay that my initial doubts about C&C were found to be mostly unwarranted. This slot is, and is advertised as, high volatility: having quite a few dead spins in a game is not a bad thing when the game rewards your patience with some spectacular and seemingly far-fetched connections. I do wonder, however, why all these C&C slots decided to have some goofy, cheap-looking win screen (it really is something a beginner digital artist/editor could make in a couple hours). The contrast between the badass and very serious-looking bison and the goofy win screen with it's smileyface with a thumbs up, or it holding cash, was kind of jarring.... but I don't hate it. A high quality, and custom tailored win screen would be vastly superior, but I found this silly, yet somehow, a fitting contrast, in this specific slot's case (it didn't fit the other C&C slots quite as well). Whilst I'm not a huge fan of either the C&C mechanic, nor this slots "land-based" visual style, it's a nice change of pace; just doing somethings different than most already gives you a head start in the competition for my time and attention. I'm glad this series of slot exists and will likely be giving the upcoming installment to Fire Stampede a good go. I give this a strong 6 (just short of a 7).

Heroic Spins
Pragmatic Play
January 10, 2026
Heroic Spins feels like one of those phoned in movie tie-in games; it looks and feels cheap, and does not make up for that with innovation or gripping gameplay. As uninspired as it's name, Heroic Spins dons a bootleg Disney 3D animation look but bring none of the charm. The hero who stands by the right side shouts "Victory is sure" (actually I'm not sure if he's saying "victory is sure", "victory assured" or "victory is yours") at random as he swings his sword whenever wilds symbols create a hit, causing them to expand vertically, and that is most of the game. He does this frequently since at least one wild will hit pretty frequently, but other than that there is no action going on in the game. There are some multipliers on the wilds depending on the number of hits, but the way the whole game unfolds is not interesting: this is a slot that is squarely in the "out of nowhere" rather than build-up and suspense camp, but I didn't find any of my big wins satisfying. The bonus game continues the trend of uninspired-ness -- a wheel spin that determines how many free spins you get, but wow there's also a global multiplier wheel being spun at the same time! And then the game continues and you wish you were playing something else. Heroic Spins did not have me feeling heroic, it left me feeling like a consumer consuming product that somebody was contractually obligated to make.

Sugar Rush
Pragmatic Play
January 10, 2026
Sugar Rush nails it in terms of having a satisfying core game mechanic: building up the background multipliers. This mechanic makes it so that it's simplicity becomes it's biggest strength. The amount of satisfaction and dopamine this slot game has delivered to the masses with the build-up of the background multipliers, and complementing it with a bonus game that retains the multipliers, cannot be overstated. Those background multis are all I'm looking for in this game, but it's all it really needs (gameplaywise). You can keep coming back to this game or one of its successors and get some gratifying tumbles, probably until the day you pass. Some shortcomings: The visual and artistic quality of this slot falls short of being great, and just stays my hand from giving it a 9, maybe I obsess over the details too much. The slight jankiness in the slot's reel animation on anything above the base speed (the previous set of symbols just disappearing mid-motion, rather than cleanly animating off the grid), is an issue in quite a few slots, and it really sticks out in this game, but it won't bother most. There is no question why this is considered a classic to many, the execution on the core mechanic is remarkable in it's satisfactory simplicity, and it is one of those things you can easily put in a list of top/timeless mechanics in slots.

Wisdom of Athena 1000 Xmas
Pragmatic Play
January 10, 2026
Wisdom of Athena 1000 Xmas is a by the books seasonal reskin of it's good predecessor slot game, for better or worse (mostly worse). There is no discernible difference in the gameplay between this one and the previous, the only improvement that could be argued for is the animation of Athena herself; Pragmatic has progressively, from game to game, made her animations more muted and refined. The music is about the same as WoA 1000, but at least for the base game I noticed the music was subtly more muted, a downgrade IMO. The subduing worked for Athena's animations which were over-the-top in the predecessors, but it doesn't work for the music. Thankfully, Athena has not returned to her blabbermouth form of the first game, but ultimately this game doesn't deserve a good score, as it's just a reskin with no significant improvements/differences, besides the reskin, unless you consider super bonus buys one (some people might).

Wisdom of Athena 1000
Pragmatic Play
January 10, 2026
I consider Wisdom of Athena 1000 to be the superior Wisdom of Athena game. This one has is an improvement almost across the board over it's predecessor: the music, animation, Athena -- all are at least slightly improved. The very exaggerated and cheap mobile game-looking animation of Athena has been toned down and refined, they still aren't great, but it's a significant improvement. The music in both the base and bonus games are a clear improvement over the original the original soundtrack was quite generic and mediocre, while this new one is quite nice and distinct. The new soundtrack is more memorable, gives Athena personality, and reinforces a more noticeable base game to bonus game dichotomy. On Athena herself... I prefer this ones redesign. But the biggest improvement of all is that she barely talks now! That is a massive improvement. Pragmatic realized how bad that vocal onslaught was in the original and fixed it, maybe overcorrected, but this is preferable no question about that. If you are going to spend your time on a Wisdom of Athena game (as of writing), IMO, this is the one.

Wisdom of Athena
Pragmatic Play
January 10, 2026
Wisdom of Athena feels like good remix/expansion to Gates of Olympus which this slot is obviously heavily based off of... at least it would be if Athena herself wasn't so annoying in this specific game. The gameplay is a satisfying alternate take on the Gates of Olympus formula with Athena invoking random multipliers (like Zeus) with an expanding grid mechanic that does make it just different enough from Gates to justify it's existence, however, it's not enough to make the game truly stand out. The 'hits' in this game aren't all that satisfying, both the sound design and visual delivery of the hits are a bit lacking to make this slot rank highly in terms of satisfying wins, it's not bad but not very good either. The music is just serviceable; it's okay. A bigger issue is how talkative Athena is, and especially with turbo spins not compensating for it, causing Athena to assault your ears with janky, cut-off voice lines. It's still annoying even on the slower speeds. I find myself wanting to mute the game AT ALL TIMES, that's a bad sign for any kind of game. This goddess is really annoying! A decent slot if you like having an 'alternate' to Pragmatic's Olympus series, but I think it's very skippable, certainly if you have remotely high standards for polish on the audio side.

10 Santa’s Reindeers
Push Gaming
January 9, 2026
10 Santa's Reindeers is a decent seasonal entry for Push Gaming. This slot is not likely to stay with you (unless you luck out with a huge win, of course), as it's very simple and one-note, but it succeeded in keeping my attention for a good deal of playtime, with it's advertised medium volatility delivering a well balanced pacing of wins. The game feels very one-note, especially the base game (but the bonus game is little better). I only found myself focused on the reindeers, everything else was quite useless background noise. When you hit a big number of reindeers, there is some good satisfaction to be had for sure. I find Push Gaming for the most part is very good at the 'teasing' sequence, and it's pretty good here, too. While the bonus game doesn't do a bad job of build-up and suspense, it is a double-edged sword that I feel like is digging into your skin, because this game starts to feel slow: the bonus game involves unlocking a larger grid in steps, but the vast majority of your games will have you unlocking many/most of them, but not necessarily with good payout, and this a slow process, without thematic justification, and the bonus frequency is not low. And again, it's all about the reindeers, and while they can be decently satisfying, they cannot carry this game to greatness. I don't regret my time playing this slot, but next Christmas season, I doubt I will be returning to see the 10 Santa's Reindeers.

Santa Hopper
Push Gaming
January 9, 2026
I find Santa Hopper very endearing. Despite being more or less a reskin of Dragon Hopper, Santa Hopper is much better put together and consequently, more enjoyable to play, and that's primarily because Push Gaming nailed the music and the mood. The hopeful soundtrack and the cutesy, yet determined-looking Santa and overall art design harmonize REALLY well. Stellar music can elevate a decent gaming experience to a great one and this is easily one of the best soundtracks to a slot I have heard: The anticipatory music when the slot gives you 2 bonus symbols and is teasing the 3rd one (Push are generally great at this). The bonus round theme which picks up from a chill base game track with increased feeling of hopeful determination. Climaxing with the big win "number-go-up" screen. Excellent use of leitmotif throughout. The only significant deficiency with the soundtrack is that sometimes the transitions between tracks isn't the cleanest (especially when the random jingle drop triggers). The gameplay itself is fairly satisfying. Little Santa hopping around from chimney to chimney, the random chance for a jingle drop trigger (a symbol overwrite on part of the board) on an otherwise dead-spin, and just the old fashioned volatility of being able to have a high multiplier coin drop at any time combined with a bonus game which plays quite differently to the base game. All of this made for sufficiently engaging game which plays differently to other slots... except it's own predecessors. I'm giving this a 7.5, but since there are no half points it's an 8. This slot is just too artistically soulful to give it a 7, few slot games can hold a candle to it. Note: this slot is not for the impatient and those who want to blaze through their spins; certain things can't be skipped as quickly as most other slots, even in turbo; the overall speed of the game is a bit on the slower side (which IMO is aesthetically appropriate, and that's coming from a guy who really likes fast turbo spins).

Joker’s Jewels Hold & Spin
Pragmatic Play
January 6, 2026
Nothing about this game is interesting. This slot's attempt at retro falls on it's face; it's not charming at all, because it fails to stand out in anyway in terms of it's visual presentation -- this feels like a very corporate and soulless attempt at 'retro' just to check a box, and not a game being made by passionate individuals. Nothing about playing this game is enjoyable. Even the music is grating. The hold and spin bonus game is painfully dull and slow and you are not allowed to speed through it. The base game is equally as dull. Getting wins on this slot is not even satisfying for the most part. Joker should have been involved in the game, just as a character that's built-in to the slot that gets involved in random chance events for example, that could have made the spins more interesting and carried the game somewhat (all this can be done while having a retro aesthetic). Don't even touch this slot.
