Safari Gold Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview
They say that money can't buy everything, but if you have enough of it, you can at least buy your own Megaways slot. Just ask LeoVegas. Last month, the Swedish owned casino order an exclusive release, and Blueprint Gaming delivered. Presumptuously titled LeoVegas Megaways, the game is characterized by its massive, shiny Megaways wheel on which the casino's famous logo can be seen gracefully positioned in the center. As a Megaways slot, it doesn't really stand out that much from Blueprint's other creations, but the mighty wheel has a strong pull and has proven hard to resist. One wheel to rule them all.
If for whatever reason, you cannot play at LeoVegas, Blueprint has now made sure you'll be able to spin that glorious wheel elsewhere. A reskin of LeoVegas Megaways, Blueprint Gaming's Safari Gold Megaways comes with 6 reels and up to 117,649 ways to win. If you're already familiar with the original, you can basically stop reading now and do something more productive, but in case you're intrigued to learn more, well, keep reading. Bearing some resemblance to Pragmatic's Safari King (it's not the first time) this wildlife-themed offering includes features such as cascading reels, free spins with increasing win multipliers and two types of manually triggered bonus bet features, one of which will guarantee you a minimum number of Megaways. Practically, you can play it across all devices and wager between 20 cents and €100 per spin.
Even as a reskin, Safari Gold Megaways isn't much of a reskin. The lion logo remains in place, albeit a different design, and it's still dominated by the distinctive LeoVegas orange colour. The soundtrack, of course, has been changed, but even that isn't original as it has been borrowed from Blueprint's Savanna Stampede. With the sun setting over the African Savannah in the background, symbols on the reels include 9 to A royal values alongside elephants, cheetahs, and buffaloes. The lion is the top symbol, however, delivering 50 times your stake for six on a full payline. The sunset symbol is the wild - it appears on the extra reel only directly positioned above reels 2 through to 5.
Safari Gold Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features
Being a Megaways game, each reel here randomly varies in symbol height on each spin, ranging from 2 up to 7 symbols. When fully expanded, it can give you 117,640 ways to win. It also utilizes a Cascading Reels mechanic where winning symbols are removed and replaced with new ones, thus allowing you to win repeatedly from a single spin. Then there is the Mystery Symbol feature - when the lion logo symbol appears on the reels, all instances of it will transform into another random symbol.
With the basics covered, now comes the more exciting part. Look out for the diamond scatter as it will activate the Free Spins round if you land 4 or more anywhere in view in a single spin. This is the moment you get to spin that colossal wheel that we have been talking about. On the inner section of the wheel, you'll see the number of spins while on the outer section you have starting multipliers. When the wheel comes to a stop, you will know your setup - 4, 5, 6 or 7 diamond scatters will give you up to 15, 20, 25 or 30 spins respectively as well as a starting win multiplier of between 1x - 10x. Moreover, during the round, 3 or 4 diamond scatters anywhere in view will give you 5 or 10 additional spins. Also, the cascading reels feature applies here as well, increasing your win multiplier by 1 for every win achieved - with no limit.
If you don't feel like waiting for a chance to spin the glorious wheel, you always have the Megaways Wheel Bet to rely on. For a cost of 20x, you'll receive up to 10 free spins along with a minimum number of Megaways. If you want to go all-in, there is the Bonus Bet feature instead, that, for a cost of 100x will take you to the main free spins wheel to win spins and multipliers. Not only that, but these two options will also give you a higher RTP, going up from 96.50% to 97%, which can actually have more of an impact than you would think.
Safari Gold Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict
For obvious reasons, no casino other than LeoVegas will want to list a game called LeoVegas Megaways which is why, in this case at least, it makes sense for Blueprint to clone, reskin and rename it. Having already reviewed and played the original, we are well acquainted with the game.
Essentially, it's a dime a dozen Megaways slot, but as per usual, Blueprint always manages to add a bit of a twist to it that will be just enough to capture the interest of the players. In this case, it doesn't solely come down to the Megaways wheel, but the magnificent visual presentation as well.
Safari Gold Megaways may have been stripped of its brand elements but its roar is just as loud.
