The results of the Bigwinboard Awards 2020 are in, and what a contest it was! First up, let’s acknowledge that just getting onto the nominations list is an achievement in itself. As you no doubt know, Bigwinboard is a completely independent website which reviews games, and providers completely on their merits without bias or outside influence. Readers know they are getting reviews they can trust, free of any ulterior motive. If it’s good, it’s good; if not, we’ll let you know. As such, there is a huge amount of interest in the results of our 2020 Awards since they are completely impartial, not to mention chosen by you, the players.

There was no end of new releases throughout the year, some great, some not so much. Then there are those we go back to time and again – for a combination of reasons, including audio-visuals, theme, originality, math model, bonuses, and of course a hefty potential doesn’t hurt either. Yet again, 2020 was a year of Megaways, which saw two of the biggest titans, NetEnt and Microgaming, end their resistance by incorporating the engine into their games. It was a fertile 12 months for sequels too, the trend of giving a pre-made fan base more of what they like shifting from Hollywood to the iGaming world with spectacular results.

The 25 nominated games here represent the best of the best. There were a ton of also-rans, those that performed superbly but didn’t quite make the cut. It certainly makes it tough to choose favourites. Yet clutching the winners crown as it rose above them all was Relax Gaming‘s monster Money Train 2 , receiving 20.37% of the 2,751 votes. After repeatedly witnessing what its bonus game can do, the success of Money Train 2 is unlikely to cause too much controversy amongst the community.

That’s not to say it had a smooth run to the finals. Like a high inertial freight train with a busted brake lever, Money Train 2 led from day 1 (November 28). However, the competition was hot on its heels in, predominantly from Nolimit City‘s equally volatile Western bonanza Deadwood, which actually took the lead on December 8 – then for a couple of days, the two contenders circled each other, trading punches like an Ali/Frazier fight. Finally, Money Train 2 landed a fatal body blow on December 11, taking the lead back and holding it until voting closed on the 15th. The rest, as they say, is history.

Moving on to the providers’ award, it makes logical sense that votes for top games would spill over into votes for the studios which designed them. Here was another titanic showdown between Relax Gaming and Nolimit City, even more closely fought than their games were. In the end, Relax Gaming did enough to scoop both awards. Casinos were close too, with few surprises over LeoVegas taking the top honours. Kudos to all that made the list, each casino offering something unique to make it stand out from its peers.

All in all, what a great year it was for slots and players all around. There’s been something for everyone to enjoy and hopefully score the odd big win. Congratulations to all nominees in the 2020 awards, and of course, huge thanks to everyone who took part in voting!
