Super Flip Deluxe: Slot Overview
For better or for worse, classic slots make up a genre which refuses to lie down and give up. It's a form that's been around since basically forever, and keeps marching on, despite, or maybe because of, all the technical, mechanical and thematic progress gamblers have witnessed over the years. Software provider Play'n GO is certainly partial to a retro slot, having designed a large number of them, including one it dropped in 2015, going by the name of Super Flip. The studio has now, for whatever reason, revisited the past and repackaged it in the form of Super Flip Deluxe, a slot that reruns much of the gameplay while adding on a quartet of instant prizes.
Super Flip Deluxe is one of those retro slots which is designed for a certain taste and couldn't care less what other people think of it. Classic symbols land on its reels, shiny metallic trim abounds, the background area is lifeless, the tunes are funky, and four instant prizes line the top of the grid. It's the type of stuff that doesn't need to be tried on to see if it is the right fit. If change is a good thing, then Super Flip Deluxe's visual redecoration might be an agreeable shift, though a lot of the mechanics and extras have remained constant.

For one thing, Play'n GO has chosen not to deluxe the gaming area, which remains a 5x4 matrix with 20 paylines to land wins of 3 to 5 OAK along. Volatility is in the low to medium range, while the highest of the five RTP configurations is a 96.2% value. There is no picking the number of coins or lines this time, so all gamblers have to decide on is the total stake, where the choices are 10 c to $/€100.
Super Flip Deluxe's symbol hierarchy contains diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades low pays, then strawberries, clovers, horseshoes, stars, and diamond gemstone high pays. Should a winning line consisting of five matching lows hit, the reward equates to 1 times the bet. The same-sized win made up of premium symbols will get you 2 to 12.5 times the stake. Wilds hit anywhere and substitute for everything but scatters. When wilds form their own winning combinations, their payout value is the same as the high-pay diamond.
Super Flip Deluxe: Slot Features

Joining the respin feature and the free spins bonus round, Super Flip Deluxe also boasts a new instant prize system as an extra way to possibly win a few coins.
Instant Prizes
Any symbol can land overlaid with a token, and a token overlay provides the chance to win an instant prize. The instant prizes are the 10x Mini, 50x Minor, 100x Major, and the 1,000x Grand.
Smart Respin
In the base game or bonus round, landing a full stack of matching symbols (including wilds) on the two leftmost reels, but no wins occur, activates a Smart Respin. The respin triggers sequentially along the three rightmost reels, but it only applies to reels that do not contain symbols forming wins. Free spins can trigger from Smart Respins, but token overlays do not appear.
Free Spins
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters on the reels triggers 15 free spins, plus a payout of 2.5x, 5x, or 10x, respectively. For this feature, the reels are flipped, reversing the order of the reels. Judging by the picture on the paytable, this is good because diamonds land predominantly towards the right in the base game, so they will be pushed to the left in free spins. That's the assumption. Lucky players can win up to 175 free spins by landing 3 or more scatters, retriggering 15 free spins each time.

Super Flip Deluxe: Slot Verdict
Play'n GO has been around the block long enough to know the gambling business inside out, no arguments there, but why it felt like the time was ripe to revisit a ten-year-old slot like Super Flip is anyone's guess. The studio has touched on these features before. Invading Vegas borrowed Lock on Respins, and Joker Flip flipped the reels when launching free spins (as did Invading Vegas Las Christmas), so the ideas have been floating around the PnG consciousness for a while. Super Flip Deluxe revives them, but it's hard not to wonder how many would have been desperately heartbroken if Super Flip Deluxe never saw the light of day.
But it's here, crept out of the workshop, and to celebrate the fact, or help justify the revisit, Play'n GO has imbued Super Flip Deluxe with a new instant prize feature which the original lacked. It's not a wonderful inclusion, nor an overly deluxe add-on. Simply land overlay tokens, and maybe score up to 1,000x from the Grand prize. That amount is not far off Super Flip Deluxe's max win figure of 1,200x either. Not a colossal sum, and certainly not in this day and age as sensationally eye-grabbing as the original’s 1 million coin top prize, whatever that equated to as a multiple of the bet.
Unimpressed was the final emotion when Super Flip Deluxe was all said and done. Classically, retro-minded players might find a few moments of entertainment, but Play'n GO has followed up a 10-year-old game with a slot that feels about 10 years late to the party.
Super Flip Deluxe feels like a dated revisit with little to offer beyond rehashed features, making it a missed opportunity for something more exciting.
