- Viking Hoard (Core Gaming) Slot ReviewDecember 9, 2019Viking Hoard offers little in the way of originality, but has potential through a bonus game that can be very tough to trigger. Voyage of Wealth free spins feature with progressive multiplier up to x250. 4,096 ways to win high variance action. Main game Viking Hoard (Core Gaming): Overview Ah, that perennial slots theme the Vikings are back, this time from Core Gaming. Viking Hoard is the first title from this developer to grace our desk, so some background information is in order. Launched in 2007, and based in Birmingham UK, they are part of the larger Sky Betting & Gaming Group. Core Gaming might not be a household name but they have partnered with some of the biggest companies in the business such as SG Digital, Blueprint, and Aristocrat. They are obviously into slots, but also dabble in table and instant win games. Holding licenses from both UKGC and Alderney GCC is a good sign, so let’s see what they’ve got. Other Core games you might have bumped into in the past include the odd Balthazar’s Emporium, Reels of Fire, and Pharaoh’s Wild. They’ve done the Egyptian themed slot, so now was the time to take on another obligatory theme, Vikings. Viking Hoard has something of an unusual look to it. Core has taken the middle path between a full blown cartoon look, and the otherworldly mythological look. The result is a peaceful, photorealistic background of a Scandinavian valley in the middle of summer. Very pleasant. The reel setup is a little different too, with 6 reels and 4 rows. Wins can be formed on any row as long as symbols are adjacent to each other which gives it 4,096 win ways. Players get the ball rolling by picking wagers from 10 p/c to £/€10 per spin. Up to 100 auto-spins can be set along with limits to losses and wins. The game has a high volatility no arguing that fact as it can be a toughie at times. RTP is respectable on 96.55% so no complaints there. There are 10 regular pay symbols, 6 low and 4 high. The lows are colourful 9 – A royals designed with a sort of Viking pattern. The high pays are an axe, a drinking horn, a ring, and an elder. Three of a kind is needed to make a combo, except the elder who only needs two. He is the most valuable as well at 50 times the stake for six of a kind. Moreover, all symbols can appear fully stacked on the reels. There is also a Celtic circle icon which is the wild and substitutes for any other symbol except the Bonus Symbol. Viking Hoard (Core Gaming): Features The paytable Viking Hoard is quite a simple slot so don’t expect a whole lot of extras – cascades and free spins make up the extra features. Viking Hoard uses a cascading win system which means symbols from winning combinations are removed from the reels. New symbols drop into the gaps and multiplier winners are possible from each spin. This mechanic plays a key role during free spins. Landing 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols on the reels awards 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins respectively. Cherish these moments, because they don’t come around often. The bonus round begins by a quick trip on the ship which takes players to the free spins arena. This section is called the Voyage of Wealth and actually has quite good potential. What can make it profitable is the progressive multiplier. Each cascade win moves the multiplier up a notch, starting at x1 and capable of reaching x250. As it rises, each multiplier level is applied to the current cascade win before moving up to the next level. During free spins, Bonus Symbols continue to fall and 2, 3, or 4 in view award an additional 5, 10, or 15 free spins. Viking Hoard (Core Gaming): Verdict The game might be set in a gentle Scandinavian Arcadia in the middle of summer. But the math model that lurks beneath the surface is far less benign. Viking Hoard is a highly volatile slot that possesses solid potential but makes players work hard to unlock it. Overall, Viking Hoard isn’t a bad game, but it is far from being a great one either. It is one of those slots where just about every element that went into making it has been used before in other games. It’s a real mash up. It is also one of those slots that take an ice age for the bonus round to be triggered. What makes waiting hard is that the bonus symbols are lit up on the reels as they spin so you can see every single one that you miss out on. It is equally motivating and annoying at the same time. Viking Hoard is an all or nothing type game, and what that depends on is the bonus round. Don’t trigger it and a session with Viking Hoard is probably going to be a real borefest. Trigger it though, and every single winning combination raises the multiplier. If you win enough to reach its 250x limit, then you will have racked up a significant stack of coins along the way. Even this aspect of the game has similarities with other slots, namely 300 Shields (along with some elements of Bonanza thrown in). Core has capped the winnings from one game at £250,000, so you’ll need to get the free spins cranking to threaten that figure. Because of the heavy reliance on the bonus round, Viking Hoard would have benefited from a buy feature button to cut straight to the good bits. If the game does catch on maybe we’ll get a ‘deluxe’ version in the future with this option bolted on. At the end of the day Viking Hoard is by no means a must-see, and there are better Viking slots out there. The okay graphics and trying gameplay aren’t standouts, and The Voyage of Wealth could live up to its name but can take a ton of spins to finally trigger. Try it if you are a Viking nut or really want a crack at that multiplier. Otherwise, there are better games to spend your hard earned money on....
- Mega Cherry (Inspired) Slot ReviewDecember 7, 2019Mega Cherry manages to be both low variance and low potential at the same time, all bundled up in a clichéd fruit slot wrapper. Punishing low variance math model. Comes with a Cash Collector Bonus and Spin Chance feature. Mega Cherry (Inspired): Overview Inspired Gaming is the team behind this latest fruit themed slot which is powered by SG Digital. Every time a new one of these is released, it’s hard not to wonder exactly why. Still, developers are a clever bunch, with endless features and bonus opportunities at their fingertips to entertain a jaded community who has seen it all. Sadly, that’s not the case with Mega Cherry. The emphasis here is on speed and simplicity. By shunning much in the way of extras, the spins come hard and fast. If you’re in the market for a pacey fruit slot that might pique some interest. Be warned though; Mega Cherry can be a trying experience. Yes, technically players can get ahead with Mega Cherry, but it will test their patience and resolve to the hilt. Up for a challenge? Let’s see if Mega Cherry fits the bill. Inspired has gone for retro fruit over a modern look and the layout is a basic - 5 reels, 3 rows, and 10 fixed paylines carry the action and are set against a plain blue background. The exception is the soundtrack which sounds like it came straight from a Café Del Mar best of year compilation. Stake menu sits on the left and bets start at 10 p/c per spin and can be raised as high as £/€60. The game can be played on virtually any device regardless of screen size, and spins come in manual or auto mode. Hit the little gear button on the top right to open up the paytable which is light on details - not because Inspired is economising on content, but because there isn’t a whole lot you need to know. First up are the symbols - oranges, plums, watermelons, grapes, blackberries, and strawberries make up the lower end of the table. Then there are blue, red, and white lucky sevens which are worth 100 times the stake for five of a kind. The other pay symbols are white cherries which come with a credit amount on them. During the base game, they form winning combinations, but the credit amount comes into play during the bonus game. The highest paying symbol is the Logo which pays out 200 times the stake for five across a full payline. All five of a kinds offer quite good value; the issue is that even four of a kind is very rare, even of the lowly fruit. RTP is above average on 96.5%, and the official volatility rating is low (according to SG Digital). Though with the mega runs of dead spins interspersed with the odd poor win the volatility feels a lot higher than that. The math model must be an absolute beast. Mega Cherry (Inspired): Features Don’t come to Mega Cherry if you are looking for a feature-heavy slot. The two extras included here are unlikely to satisfy that requirement. Either way, the main event is the Cash Collector Bonus - 6 white cherry symbols need to land in conjunction with the Bonus symbol to trigger the Cash Collector Bonus and 5 free spins. The cherry symbols used to launch the feature are locked on the reels while every other position is spun. The only symbols that can land are more cherry symbols, blank spaces, or golden coins. Any new cherry symbols are locked in place for the remainder of the feature. If a golden coin lands, it turns the cherry symbols red and gold. This means that at the end of the free spins, their credit values are added together and paid out along with any win line combinations. Running out of cash? The Spin Chance feature is your second chance of a comeback. It's triggered automatically if your balance is reduced below the current stake, yet is still greater than zero. It essentially offers you an opportunity to wager the remaining balance in an attempt at winning an additional spin at the current stake. Mega Cherry (Inspired): Verdict Rumour has it that Zen monks play this game to test their patience. All jokes aside, Mega Cherry is one tough slot that puts in no effort to make friends. It is possible to come out positive with Mega Cherry, but you will need to wade through an unbelievable amount of dead spins to get there. Strike this game on an off day, and you’ll have the pleasure of watching your account evaporate slowly but steadily before your very eyes. If the action was entertaining, you could just shrug your shoulders and write that off as a bad day and better luck next time. The sad reality is that you are just watching fruit spin endlessly while this thing eats away at your bankroll. So who is Mega Cherry’s target audience? Diehard fruit fans, ex-kamikaze pilots, people who vote tax cuts for billionaires? Seriously, this thing can be tough. Even the soundtrack, which was so soothing in the beginning starts to drive you up the wall and force the mute button. Then it’s just you, some dead spinning symbols, and the odd bleep when reels stop spinning. Oh, and your sanity eking out of your physical form until all that’s left is a husk repeatedly hitting spin in the hopes of getting somewhere, anywhere. Low volatile games should be a lot more gentle than this. If you can stick it out and land the Cash Collector Bonus, you might get lucky and win your money back. The best you can hope for is a 12 or so cherry symbols during the bonus round. A 50 credit showed up once so technically 12 of those and a golden coin could net you 600 times the stake. It’s just not enough to compensate for the racked nerves. Players who are hanging out for fruit flavoured slot would be better off spinning something like Joker Troupe, or sticking to their old favourites. Even if Cherry Mega was less stingy with the wins, its repetitive gameplay and limited features quickly get boring. Next....
- Montezuma Megaways (WMS) Slot ReviewDecember 6, 2019This Megaways upgrade not only offers an engaging experience in itself, but transforms Montezuma altogether. Montezuma Respin and Temple Wilds during base and bonus game. Free spins round with unlimited Megaways Multiplier and Montezuma Multiplier. The base game Montezuma Megaways (WMS): Overview The battle for the best Megaways bonus feature has a new contender in the ring. SG Digital and iconic developer WMS have combined to give an older slot the Megaways makeover and the result is a very playable game. The original Montezuma might not be all that old, but it has benefited by the overhaul and some more attention to detail. The last couple of WMS Megaways slots were very hit and miss. Raging Rhino Megaways had its moments, but wasn’t without its faults, and the less said about Battleship Direct Hit the better. It appears that a lot of the criticism these games garnered has been addressed with Montezuma Megaways which eclipses those two in most departments and metrics. Aesthetically, things have remained more or less the same, which is fine; this is an upgrade after all. Symbols are the same, and the steamy South American vibe is present with a few improvements. All up, fans of the original will instantly feel right at home. That is until the reels start to spin and the Megaways game engine starts to do its thing. The main game area comes with 6 reels and 2 to 7 symbols on each. Up top is a 4 symbol row called the Montezuma Wheel. At max power, 117,649 ways to win come into play. Montezuma Megaways comes with the Megaways Cascading Reels mechanic. Here, winning symbols in a combination explode off the reels and new symbols drop in to take their place. This can result in chains of wins from one single spin. As is usually the case with these cascade win systems, individual symbols typically possess quite low value. Combinations are formed by 3 – 6 of a kind and the paytable possesses low and high-value groups. The lows are four royals, J to A, and the highs are a snake, mask, plumed hat, hawk, empress and emperor. The empress possesses the impressive name of Chichimecacihuatzin, while the emperor is none other than Montezuma. He is the top dog and worth 25 times the stake for six of a kind. That’s not too bad, but the other high pays clock in at 0.25x – 1x the stake for six on a payline. Numbers wise, the RTP alternates between 95.92% in standard play, or 96.17% with the Buy Pass engaged. Players get a medium/high volatility with a solid bonus round where the game really shines. Montezuma Megaways (WMS): Features The free spins feature Helping string combos together is the Temple Wild symbol. This symbol only appears on the Montezuma Reel and can substitute for any regular pay symbol. Following a non-winning spin, the Montezuma Respin Wheel feature can launch randomly. The top horizontal 1×4 reel gets a bit of a nudge to give players a second chance at winning – it can occur during the base game and free spins. Aside from these two, it’s the Aztec Calendar scatter you want. Landing 3 or more will trigger the Free Spins feature. Just as is the case with the original version, there is no set amount of free spins. Instead, a wheel divided into segments rotates. Whatever number it lands on is the number of free spins which is typically 12 – 30. The action during free spins is the same as the base game with two vital additions. The first is the Unlimited Win Multiplier that increases by +1 for each cascade. Moreover, scatter symbols continue to appear but do not retrigger free spins. Instead, if two or more land the wheel is spun again and whatever number it lands on is added to the multiplier. The more scatters that trigger the wheel, the higher the additional multiplier which can be up to +100. You will want those scatters to land at any time during the bonus game, but even more so on the final free spin. When they do, they trigger the wheel again. This time, whatever multiplier it lands on is applied to the total amount won during the free spin round and is a major game-changer. Free spins also come with a bonus guarantee. If less than 30 times the total bet is won during the round, the game will award a prize of 30 times the stake in exchange of the smaller accumulated prize. Not exactly something to aim for, but a nice touch all the same. Depending on the rules in your country, Montezuma Megaways can come with a Buy Pass option. The cost for this is 85 times the stake, which is fairly low compared to others that have been released recently. Engage this, and you are guaranteed at least 3 scatters on the next spin. Montezuma Megaways (WMS): Verdict Montezuma Megaways is definitely an improvement over both the original slot and other WMS Megaways releases. WMS is to be commended for taking criticism on board and creating something nowhere near as clunky or choppy as Raging Rhino Megaways. The result is a game that still retains echoes of its physical slot origins while being a thoroughly modern update to boot. It’s looking like Montezuma Megaways is already making waves in the gambling community. For another opinion, have a look over at our friend Chipmonkz Slots for another take on what is shaping up to be a potential hit for WMS. Speaking of potential, Montezuma is capable of returning up to 12,500 times the stake. It might not be record-breaking for Megaways, but it is a respectable figure nonetheless – and a lot better than the ludicrous 2,500x cap they put on Battleship. The wins from the unlimited Megaways Multiplier during free spins is what is going to show up on video clips in the future. Players that can shortcut their way to them via the bonus Buy Pass will be sorely tempted. Those who are barred from these types of buy features have another reason to feel short-changed by their regulator. Either way, Montezuma Megaways is an excellent remake, and WMS have done a great job revamping a successful slot with the popular engine from Big Time Gaming. They have retained enough of the original while dragging it through a modernising process to produce a highly enjoyable slot that can be as profitable as it is fun....
- Wildhound Derby (Play’n GO) Slot ReviewDecember 5, 2019The Wildhound Derby video slot gets the atmosphere right, though it isn’t as sharp as it could have been. Maximum Play’n GO volatility. Includes 5 different wilds, a Winner’s Wheel and Dog Race Free Spins. Main game Wildhound Derby (Play’n GO): Overview While most forms of gambling are experiencing a period of expansion, greyhound racing is one of the few that is bucking the trend. There are only 8 countries left that legally allow the sport, with the UK holding out as one of the last bastions of the pastime. First introduced there in the 1920s, it proved to be an instant hit. Yet, even in the UK it is decline and has lost favour with the British public. The reason is partly due to a perceived poor treatment of dogs and low animal welfare standards. How rampant or true those claims are is a debate for another day. One way of enjoying a day at the track while not harming man’s best friend comes via Play’n GO’s new slot, Wildhound Derby. As well as providing some of the thrills of racing, we are happy to confirm that no dogs were harmed in the making of this review. Wildhound Derby is a video slot that is played over 5 reels, 4 rows, and 30 fixed paylines. Visually, it is recognisably a Play’n GO slot with an ever so slightly retro look to its symbols and reels. The action is set, where else, at the dog track, and the grid is bordered by floodlights and crowds of busy sports betters. Online players start proceedings by choosing an appropriate stake for their bankroll. Options come as low as 10 p/c per spin and go as £/€100. As you’d expect, the aim of the base game is to land three or more similar symbols to trigger a payout. Wildhound Derby comes with some good potential but can be tough going. Play’n GO has given it a volatility rating of 10 out of 10, or, ‘VERY HIGH’ as the game spec puts it. With decent wins on offer, Wildhound Derby can be a rough, yet rewarding, ride. It’s not super tight and the math model is fairly balanced in part thanks to the generous default RTP of 96.93%. Be vigilant though, operators have the ability to turn that setting down to 94.65%, or even lower, so make sure you are playing the better version. Symbols on the paytable are split into low pay and high pay groups. The low pay are gold-trimmed J to A royals, while high pay are form-guides, bet slips, ribbons, and banknotes. That last one, like the trophy wild, is worth a solid 100 times the stake for five of a kind. As well as paying out, the trophy wild can substitute for any of the regular pay symbols. Wildhound Derby (Play’n GO): Features The trophy wild is joined by four other wilds which are the dog stars of the game. They have names such as Braveheart, Daring Dex, Beadle’s Teabag, and Oh my Dog. These four pups only land on the fifth reel and can also substitute for any of the regular pay symbols. If all four dogs manage to land at the same time, they trigger the free spins round, and are off to the races. Before beginning the Dog Race Free Spins feature, players choose which dog they want to back in the race. All dogs start the feature on the fifth reel, and a race indicator is placed next to the first reel on the left. On each free spin, the rows of the indicator spin too and Golden Hares can appear on one or more of the positions. If a Golden Hare does appear, then the dog in that specific row moves one reel to the left. There is no set amount of free spins. Instead, the round continues until one of the dogs makes it past the first reel. If the winner is not your dog, then any winnings racked up during free spins get paid out, and it is back to the main game. If your dog is the winner, then the action moves to the Winner’s Wheel. The wheel spins and players can score multipliers of x2, x3, x4, x5, or x15 which is applied to winnings from the free spins. Wildhound Derby (Play’n GO): Verdict Interestingly, there aren’t many dog racing-themed slots out there for Wildhound Derby to compete with. You’d think that slot developers would be furiously tapping into a readymade gambling market. Perhaps it was too soon after the animal welfare controversy? Either way, Play’n GO will be betting on punters with a touch of nostalgia reliving some of the track glory days with an online slot. While it doesn’t completely capture the magic of watching your favourite doggie bounding across the finish line first, it isn’t too bad either. A modicum of the live spirit has been preserved, and the makers have incorporated some competitiveness via the Dog Race feature. Causal punters might have picked the dogs they found were cutest and cuddliest. But at its core dog racing was, and is, all about business. About picking the right racer and collecting winners. On the business side, Wildhound Derby offers solid symbol values that can result in satisfying wins. This can be especially so when the multiplier wheel is brought into play. With a potential of up to 15,000 times the stake, Wildhound Derby is significantly more generous than most Play’n GO titles. The game has a €/£1,500,000 win limit, which is a figure highly unlikely to be reached at the real dog track very often. Though in saying that, with a probability of hitting it on Wildhound Derby one in 100 million spins it’s not going to land here often either. On the visual side of things, Wildhound Derby is not all that exciting and the base game does have its spells of boredom. Overall, however, it’s capable of providing dog racing fans an enjoyable day out due to its solid math model, highly volatile action coupled with great potential. Dog racing is all about simple, primal thrills and so is this game....
World's Leading Source for Online Slot & Casino News
Having been part of the casino streaming community for a few years, we decided it was finally time to move on to fully dedicate our time to the site. It's quite remarkable how far we've come since the launch in March of 2017. With tens of thousands of monthly visitors, we've now grown to become one of the most influential casino portals in the world. The casino streaming years brought with it several positive aspects - it enabled us to learn the fundamentals of slots, the companies that develop them, and the iGaming industry as a whole. Moreover, it has given us the opportunity to play at a vast number of casinos while also gaining experience of how casinos operate - knowledge we're happy to share with our readers.
What Makes Bigwinboard Unique?
There are several significant key factors that make us stand out from other similar casino sites. To us, trust is the single most important principle and an integral part of our policy. Trust is something that helps build a long-term relationship with our beloved readers which is why we write all our articles from the perspective of the player. Being slot enthusiasts, we always make sure to write articles and reviews we would have liked to read ourselves. This is why you won’t find generic, advertising type online slot reviews here. There are more than enough unscrupulous casino sites on the web promoting bad casinos and awful slots, something we work hard to distance ourselves from.
Before we even consider listing a casino, it has to meet certain criteria. For example, we don’t promote off-shore casinos in order to protect our readers as they’re all too ofteny licensed by smokescreen regulatory authorities. Furthermore, we perform extensive background research before any casino is allowed a position on our site and we only list the brands considered to be the best in the industry. Because of our explosive growth rate and solid reputation, many casinos ask us to list their brands, something that gives us an opportunity to negotiate exclusive welcome bonuses such as the ones found on our 200% casino bonus, best online casinos and best casino bonus pages.
What we have become best known for is likely our news reports and online slot reviews in particular. As we’re in direct contact with representatives of all the best game developers, such as NetEnt, Big Time Gaming, Quickspin, Play’n GO, Red Tiger, and Merkur, we’re often allowed access to new slots before launch, making it possible for us to test games in order to give you an understanding of what you will be up against when the games are finally released, hopefully saving you from wasting money on bad slots. Having connections on the inside has also enabled us to publish scoops and information about games long before their actual release. There is more than one example of us having published news of upcoming major releases before anyone else. This is also why our competitors use Bigwinboard.com as their primary source!
But it’s not only our exclusive material that attract readers. If you want to read truly unbiased slot reviews, there is no better option out there but Bigwinboard.com. While other casino sites traditionally have used money and greed as a source of inspiration, which so obviously shines through in their reviews (no, not every slot is amazing), our philosophy is completely different. From the very first start, our ambition has been to create a fun site, but also a site that helps guide the players in making the right decision by providing truly unbiased reviews. If a slot is bad, we will truthfully say so, sometimes in a very blunt manner. We also take great responsibility in the casinos we promote. If you’re ever treated unfairly at any of the casinos we promote, don’t hesitate to drop us a line and we’ll look into it! Bad casins do not belong here and we always side with the players.
We Value Your Input!
The only way to improve and become better is to listen to what our readers have to say. One way to voice your opinion is by using the comment section found at the bottom of each slot review. There have been more than a few instances of readers making corrections to our articles. There have been instances when our calculations have been wrong and other times when we've jumped to conclusions that have been a bit too far out. We're grateful for any feedback we can get and you're always 100% anonymous when writing on Bigwinboard.com. We're also keen on learning about your experiences playing on our accredited casinos so keep it coming!
Although we always keep an eye on what's being said about our accredited casinos, it's really only through your feedback that we can make the right decisions. If you've been treated in an unfair manner by one of our casinos, we want to know so. Hopefully, we may be able to help work out a solution. If not, the casino in question may lose its accreditation status. Nothing is more important than the safety of our players.
