Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light Slot (Mini Review)

Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light slot
Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light slot

Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light is a 5x3 branded slot from Light & Wonder using 10 fixed paylines and offering a maximum win of 10,000x the bet. Based on the TV series, the game builds around a mix of piggy bank symbols, mini bonuses and a central Red Light mechanic. It runs on a 96.12% RTP with stakes ranging from $/€0.10 up to $/€10.

Wins are formed by landing matching symbols from left to right. The main focus is on piggy bank symbols, which act as scatters and can appear on any reel. There are four types, with gold versions awarding direct cash values and the blue, purple and green versions tied to different mini bonus features. These symbols become relevant when the Red Light Bonus activates.

The Red Light Bonus can trigger randomly during any spin, with a guaranteed activation if six or more piggy banks land. When triggered, the symbols are resolved from left to right, starting with any mini bonus features before applying the gold piggy bank values, which can range from 1x to 50x the bet.

Each coloured piggy bank unlocks a different feature. The blue version triggers a respin-style bonus on a set of mini reels where symbols lock in place, the purple version awards a random jackpot between 10x and 2,500x, and the green version gives a mystery win between 3x and 20x. Multiple symbols are resolved individually, allowing several outcomes to stack within the same bonus.

Free spins are triggered by landing three or more scatters, awarding between 10 and 20 spins. During the feature, piggy bank symbols lock in place and trigger respins until no new ones appear, after which all values and mini bonuses are resolved. Filling the entire grid during this sequence awards the Grand jackpot.

An additional Premium Play mode can trigger a Dalgona Candy Bonus on wins of 2.5x or more, offering either multipliers up to x5 or entry into free spins.

The game leans heavily on its licensed theme, and while it includes several features, much of the gameplay feels fairly routine. The mechanics don't do much beyond what has already been seen in similar collect-style slots, and despite the 10,000x headline, it rarely feels like it has the depth or potential to match that number. Outside of the branding, there's not much here that stands out.
