Mahjong Ways 3 from PG Soft continues the series, which includes Mahjong Ways and Mahjong Ways 2, with another Mahjong-inspired slot built around cluster-style wins, cascading symbols, and free spins, though this entry feels noticeably more experimental than the previous two games. Instead of using traditional paylines or ways-to-win mechanics, the game relies on cluster pays across a 6-column layout, creating a style that feels closer to a puzzle game than a standard slot.
The layout uses 28 symbol positions spread across staggered columns, with wins forming whenever 4 or more matching tiles connect adjacently. Rather than fixed paylines, payouts are calculated by combining the values of connected tiles together, which gives the gameplay a slightly unusual rhythm compared to the earlier Mahjong Ways titles.
One thing that stands out immediately is how strange the overall presentation feels. The game constantly plays Chinese vocal announcements throughout the session, which gives it personality, but for players unfamiliar with the language, it can also become repetitive fairly quickly. The visuals themselves don't really evolve much beyond the earlier entries either, and despite being the third game in the series, it arguably feels less polished overall.
Free spins are triggered by landing 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols, awarding 12, 15, or 20 spins respectively, with retriggers available up to 200 total spins. The issue is that the feature barely changes the gameplay.
