Disco Inferno: Slot Overview

After slapping a pair of shutter shades on a pharaoh and carrying him aboard his palanquin to a local nightclub in Ancient Disco, Red Tiger has once again fused an ancient civilisation to the booty-shaking sounds of disco. This time the slot is Disco Inferno, and the culture cutting a rug to some 70s-inspired tunes is the Aztecs, who have traded feathered headdresses and chinampas for a glittering dance hall, neon lights, and mirror-ball sparkle. It's a slot that embraces a stylistic 'what if' scenario rather than historical accuracy, while peppering the party with a coin collection mechanic, fleshed out with respins, nudging collectors, and a coin multiplier.

Disco Inferno gets the funk going in a location that is part geometric stone patterned structure, part palm tree, and part groovy dance floor. Flaming braziers have been replaced with pumping equalisers, the tune has a rhythmical foot-tapping quality, if a bit repetitive, and a rich pink light show provides the final audiovisual touch. Forget deep diving into one of the world's famous ancient civilisations; Disco Inferno is like a Vegas casino resort loosely based on Aztec culture set amidst rows of slot machines, souvenir shops, and all-you-can-eat buffets. It's about as gag-inducingly gaudy as its cousin Ancient Disco, or a sparkling temptation, depending on personal preference.

The active symbol area is a 5x5 matrix where winning combinations are evaluated from the leftmost side of the grid by 25 paylines. Hitting the stake button and scrolling up or down is how players can pick a bet of $/€0.20 to $/€40, while on the other side of the screen, the Buy Feature button opens up additional betting options. Red Tiger has noted the RTP as 96.1%, while the math model volatility is medium-high.

Sparkly disco ball-designed J-A card ranks are Disco Inferno's low pays, awarding 0.4x to 0.45x the bet for a 5 OAK winning combination. Next are fish, birds, snakes, and two character symbol high pays worth 0.6x to 2x the bet for 5 OAK. Wilds hit on reels 2-5, and they expand to cover the whole reel. Wilds substitute for all paying symbols.

Disco Inferno: Slot Features

Disco Inferno comes with a coin collect feature, including a coin multiplier and Nudge Collector symbol, free spins, super free spins, as well as feature buys.

Coin Collection Feature

Coin symbols land with values of 0.25x-20x, the Minor (50x), Major (100x), Mega (250x), Ultra (1,000x) or the Max Win Coin worth 12,500x the bet. Landing a Collector symbol collects any coins on the reels. The Nudge Collector symbol is present on the leftmost and rightmost reels, and also collects any coins in view. The Nudge Collector triggers a respin at the end of the spin, with the Nudge Collector moving down 1 position each respin until reaching the bottom of the reel.

There is also a Coin Multiplier which starts at x1 and applies to coin wins. When 2 scatters land, the multiplier increases by 1 level up to x10. After free spins or super free spins have been played, the multiplier is reset to x1.

Free Spins & Super Free Spins

Hitting 3 scatters awards 10 free spins. During free spins, landing 1 scatter awards +1 free spin, 2 scatters award +3 spins and 1 multiplier level increase, while 3 scatters award +5 free spins. The multiplier is reset to x1 at the end of free spins. If one of the triggering scatters is a super scatter, then 10 super free spins are awarded. Super free spins follow the rules of regular free spins except a Nudge Collector is guaranteed to land on the top position of either outermost reel on the first spin.

Feature Buys

Disco Inferno provides players with five feature buys. They are the Bonus Hunt, doubling the stake when active to have a 3 times greater chance of getting free spins or super free spins. The Super Bonus Hunt costs 3.5x and guarantees a super scatter on each spin. It is also possible to guarantee a Nudge Collector for 50x, or buy free spins or super free spins for 100x or 500x the bet, respectively. When buying the Nudge Collector or either free spins feature, the starting multiplier is random up to the max level.

Disco Inferno: Slot Verdict

Red Tiger's Disco Inferno is the next neon-soaked, kitschy collision of worlds, which cranks up the flamboyant aesthetics while turning down historical substance. Thematically, the fusion works about as well as Ancient Disco's ancient Egypt did, and both cultures are online slot theme favourites that manage to sparkle under the disco glare. The theme is one of the most original things about Disco Inferno, though mechanics such as the Nudge Collector and respins do help set the game apart from other more cut-and-dry coin collector games, and the two top runway model-worthy pay symbols go to show that the Aztecs would have rocked a dance floor.

While the mind turned to thoughts of Mesoamerican kings and queens ditching the solemnity to let it all hang loose in a disco, it also turned to consider how parts of Disco Inferno mirrored some of the things Games Global studios have been doing. Memories of Pearfiction Studios' slots awoke, as did Snowborn's Pile 'em Up with its emphasis on collecting coins and a progressive coin multiplier. In Disco Inferno, it is rather handy that the multiplier sticks around until free spins have concluded, rather than resetting after each coin collection sequence. Just as useful is the Nudge Collector, triggering respins as it drops down rows, collecting any coins which also happen to land on the grid. As far as coin collecting mechanics go, Disco Inferno puts on a pretty interesting show for gamblers who favour this method.

In fact, players are almost entirely reliant on collecting coins in order to build big monetary returns in Disco Inferno, since the symbol values are pretty poor for a game with 25 paylines. Wilds fully expand, but still, coins do the bulk of the work, so if they're not landing in great numbers or values, or the multiplier is playing up, then Disco Inferno may turn into a real uphill battle. That said, Disco Inferno has an interesting look with a colourful identity and a max win of 12,500x, though its almost total reliance on coin harvesting and its somewhat generic aspects may not suit everyone.

Bigwinboard Summary

Disco Inferno stands out through its colourful presentation and inventive twists on coin collection, though its reliance on the mechanic can make the experience feel one-dimensional.
