Warp Wreckers Power Glyph: Slot Overview

As we know from movies, time travel throws up all sorts of paradoxes. In the Jean Claude Van Damme action film TimeCop, since matter is not allowed to occupy the same space, when two copies of the villain are pushed together, they merge, melt, and disintegrate into nothingness. A similar concept is used in Quickspin's game Warp Wreckers Power Glyph, a science fiction themed slot where cloned robots explode when they meet. On this distant world, scientists race to create robots for the next 'astrocalypse', as well as a mysterious project called The Destroyer! which enters the game after players portal to another dimension for free spins to take place.

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph is played on a 5x5 game grid using an Erase-3 mechanic to create winning lines. A first for Quickspin, Erase-3 is a system similar to the one used in Moon Princess, where lines of 3-5 matching symbols, anywhere on the game board, are counted as wins and removed. They also create wilds, which we'll get to shortly. For now, let's enjoy the alien environment Quickspin has created for Warp Wreckers, which leans to the cartoon side of things, coming off a little bit like Play'n GO's Sparky & Shortz, but cuter.

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph slot

There's nothing cute about the math model, though, and the goal is to remove all symbols from the screen, which can be tricky yet highly rewarding when it happens. Sometimes more rewarding on an emotional level since potential isn't colossal, though it is similar to other slots in this category. Highly volatile, Warp Wreckers can be played on any device, offering bets of 20 p/c to $/€100 while producing a default theoretical return value of 96.29%.

Regular pay symbols are split into two groups – crystals and robots. Crystals are the low pays, consisting of objects called Jadeium, Skymium, Violetium, Roseium, and Goldium, where lines of five are worth 2-4x the bet. Robots make up the high pays. These are named too, so we get Unit Robots, Jetta Robots, and Grabber Robots all worth 10x the bet for a line of five. It's also possible to combine robots into winning lines, which gets you 5x the stake for five of any robot kind. The most valuable symbols are the Wild and Power Glyph Wild. These pay out 50x for five of a kind line and also substitute for crystals or robots.

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph: Slot Features

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph slot

Features and gameplay in Warp Wreckers are quite similar to Moon Princess with spawning wilds, Power-Up Stack modifiers, and grid clearance needed to trigger free spins. How it all works is that when winning lines hit, they are removed from the grid and increase a win multiplier by +1. This allows remaining symbols to drop down, but new symbols are not added to the panel on the same game round. If the winning line was 3 or 5 symbols in size, a wild symbol is created in the middle position of a crystal win or a Power Glyph Wild at the centre of a robot win. If a Power Glyph Wild is used in a subsequent win, it activates the next feature on the Power-Up Stack.

Power-Up Stack

In the base game, the Power-Up Stack gets 4 random modifiers for each new spin. In free spins, it gets 4 modifiers plus The Destroyer! When there are no more wins, active Power-Ups are used one after another.

  • The Transformer – selects a random symbol type in view and transforms them to another type.
  • The Eraser – erases all instances of a random symbol type.
  • The Warper – turns random symbols on the grid into wilds.
  • The Bomber – new wilds from above are added onto random columns.

Free Spins

Clearing all symbols except wilds from the grid awards 6 free spins. During this bonus round, the win multiplier does not reset between spins and clearing all the symbols awards an additional 3 free spins. Also, The Destroyer! Is added to the end of the Power-Up Stack. The Destroyer! Awards an extra free spin with a 2x2 wild in a random position when triggered.

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph: Slot Verdict

Warp Wreckers Power Glyph was a fun slot full of little touches from other games, all brought together to create something cutely enjoyable, though there are plenty of tantalising moments to be had. The latter is largely evoked when you get so close to clearing the grid of symbols but miss out due to one or two stubborn tiles. You have to laugh sometimes when there are a couple of symbols left on opposing sides of the grid, plus a few Power-Up Stack features, yet no way they are ever going to link together. It's like bowling when there are two pins left on either side of the lane, and you try to spin the ball as you toss it to somehow knock over both of them, but it ends up rolling down the centre, hitting nothing.

Ah well, that just makes clearing the grid even more satisfying when it does happen, and play shimmers through the portal into free spins. Here it's a race to the Gargantoon like Destroyer! symbol, which was no easy task. This is partly because the lowish number of robots on screen often prohibits enough Power-Up features from being created, even if you manage to link them all into wins. Sometimes, a Power-Up Stack feature will go and turn one of the last robots you need into a wild, foiling your plans.

Instead of these setbacks being off-putting, the compelling nature of Warp Wreckers' gameplay and the eccentric world Quickspin has created to experience it in increased motivation rather than decimated it. The game has been nicely balanced, its interesting sci-fi theme and feature frequency help prevent throwing in the towel. Rewards aren't bad either, Quickspin stating that Warp Wreckers topped out at 4,726x during 100 billion spins.

All in all, Warp Wreckers is a fun addition to Quickspin's Glyph range of games. It successfully combines Power-Up Stack features with the Erase-3 mechanic and the grid clearing objective to create a neat package of a game that's easy to like.
