Zombie aPOPalypse becomes the first slot from AvatarUX to feature the studios’ new in-house mechanic MultiPop. Wanting to learn more about it, we reached out to have a chat with head of product Hannah Farrugia at AvatarUX.
Bigwinboard: Popwins™ is already a very successful mechanic, how does MultiPop™ enhance the AvatarUX journey?
AvatarUX: With the introduction of MultiPop™, we are diversifying our portfolio of game frameworks and mechanics. We have been very successful with our PopWins™ titles, but why stop there? Our team at AvatarUX is a global, diverse and multicultural team, with plenty of ideas and passion for coming up with the next best thing which players want to see.
Bigwinboard: The first time we see MultiPop™ is in the newly launched Zombie aPOPalypse™. A bold, new direction for you, what sparked this change, and will we see more of this style in the coming slots?
AvatarUX: We are very excited about concepting new mechanics and frameworks. Our values reflect the creation of the player’s best experience, and this is exactly what we want to give them. We prototype and experiment with new mechanics very often, and get feedback during their development. When we find something that we believe will resonate with the majority of players, we push it forward. Similarly, we believe that diversifying our art themes and going outside of our boundaries is something we have a drive for and that we will keep on doing. We enjoy creating concepts and moodboards that we discuss and pitch to our partners, then pick the very best one. You can expect to see more new and bold themes in our next games.
Bigwinboard: What can players expect out of this new slot and mechanic combo?
AvatarUX: Firstly, if we look at our new mechanic – Similarly to PopWins™, Multipop™ is a feature that enhances win potential by adding a layer of progressive wins to the spin sequence. Every time a player hits a winning combination, the symbols “Pop” and a multiplier is applied on the cell that is applied on the replacement symbol. When the player gets more wins in a spin cycle, the cell multiplier increases by 1 each time. The more pops, the higher the multiplier.
In Zombie aPOPalypse™ the player enters an apocalyptic world as a zombie, who is on the hunt for food, and of course, super mega big wins. The bonus game pushes the mechanic to the next level, because the cell multipliers are sticky, so players can progressively increase these multipliers each win. Multipliers are additive, and filling the entire board with multipliers grants extra free spins.
Bigwinboard: AvatarUX seems to seem climbing up the slot provider ladder, what can we expect to see next year?
AvatarUX: We have increased the number of slots that are being released in 2022, compared to previous years, and this is something that we plan on continuing. We strive to release games that we are proud of and that cover a variety of themes, mechanics and features. Most importantly, each time, we aim to create an amazing experience for the player.
We have an exciting portfolio of games planned for 2023 and players can expect to see new mechanics, and games that pair new features along with our classic PopWins™ mechanic. With the increasing titles and mechanics we aim to keeping delivering the high quality that is now expected of us.
