Wins connect horizontally, vertically or diagonally from left to right, while randomly selected positions on the grid begin each spin with multiplier levels of x1, x2 or x3.
Special symbols activate these highlighted positions, converting them into multiplier Wilds. Standard Specials can create up to three Wilds, while Super Specials can activate as many as eight. Repeatedly hitting the same highlighted position increases its multiplier level, so much of the potential comes from repeatedly developing valuable areas of the grid rather than simply landing one large modifier.

Here, highlighted positions remain active between spins, allowing their multipliers to continue growing throughout the feature. The stronger Super Free Spins requires at least one Red Key and also awards 7 spins, but starts highlighted positions at x2 and doubles their values whenever they are activated again. This can push individual cells through x4, x8, x16, x32 and beyond, which is where the bonus can become considerably more interesting.
Peter & Sons also includes an Extra Spin option after either feature, allowing the player to continue with the existing multiplier setup rather than starting again from scratch. There are limits to how long this can continue, but retaining the developed grid makes these purchased extensions considerably more appealing than simply buying an unrelated extra spin. That headline potential gives the multiplier system room to produce something meaningful, although, as always with such large advertised ceilings, how frequently anything remotely close to 30,000x actually appears is another matter.
Mechanically, there's plenty going on, but very little feels revolutionary. Persistent multiplier positions have appeared in numerous slots already, and the standard-versus-super bonus structure is equally familiar. The growing cells can create entertaining sessions when the same positions repeatedly activate, but less successful rounds can feel like little more than waiting for the right squares to light up.
Bloody Mary Pray for Prey is therefore a more mixed Peter & Sons release than the high max win and elaborate presentation might initially suggest. The multiplier mechanics are engaging enough and there is real potential in the stronger bonus, but the gameplay relies heavily on ideas we've encountered before. More unusually for this studio, even the artwork isn't escaping criticism, with some players calling out what they see as painfully obvious AI-generated imagery. Peter & Sons has traditionally been one of the studios we could rely on for outstanding handcrafted presentation, so if that criticism is accurate, it would be disappointing to see them moving in that direction. There's enough here for a decent horror slot, but it falls short of being one of the studio's standout releases.
