Book of Inti: Slot Overview

Online slots aren't just exciting forms of entertainment, but they can also be an unexpected source of trivia you might never have known otherwise. Here's a for instance – did you know The Incas were the first to cultivate potatoes in Peru? Or that Inti was the Inca god of the sun and was married to the moon? If not, you have Book of Inti from Microgaming partner Golden Rock Studios to thank for schooling you in the history of South American cultures. As well as supplying interesting titbits of knowledge, Book of Inti serves up, you guessed it, Incan themed 'book of' gaming, with the requisite innovation to accompany its bonus game.

Book of Inti has a pleasant appearance, with a 5-reel, 10-payline slot sitting in an Incan temple complex as water cascades down step pyramids into a communal pool area. It would make a great holiday destination and actually looks a lot like the waterpark at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai - the one with the Leap of Faith water slide that goes underneath a pool of basking sharks. The game doesn't have the down to business grit some 'book' slots do, Golden Rock choosing a bright sunny angle instead.

Bright looks don't translate to lite gaming through, and players get a highly volatile math model running the show. Theoretical return is solid at 96.06%, while players score a hit roughly one-third of the time, or 31.11% to be exact. For the most part, you can expect a standard 'book of' experience unless triggering certain bonus game elements, then Book of Inti can be a bit more unique. We are getting ahead of ourselves, though, so taking a look at stakes, bets from 10 p/c to £/€40 may be selected on any device.

The base game is simple – land matching symbols left to right from the first reel, and you've got a winner. In the case of low pays, it means three at least where you'll find 10 to A card royals making up the numbers. This drops to two or more of a kind when it comes to high pays, consisting of gold coins, gold necklaces, gold statues, and a conquistador, no doubt there to get all that gold. Five of a kind wins are at the upper end of the 'book' scale ranging from 75 to 500 times the stake. Since the name of the game is expanding symbols, these values translate to healthy full screen wins.

Book of Inti: Slot Features

Book of Inti slot

Not a lot occurs in Book of Inti without the help of the special book symbol. One of its roles is as the wild, landing anywhere to replace any symbol to complete a winning line. The one exception is during free spins, where it cannot substitute for expanded symbols.

Landing 3, 4, or 5 books at once also triggers the free spins bonus game and a payout of 2x, 20x, or 200x the bet, respectively. The base number of free spins is 8, but before they begin, the game spins a three-ringed prize wheel which may boost the round. On the outer ring of the wheel, all of the pay symbols are displayed. Whatever tile is chosen becomes the special expanding symbol. After regular payouts are awarded, if special symbols can create a win, they expand to cover all positions on their respective reels. These expanded symbols pay all lines and do not have to be adjacent or start from the first reel to do so.

In addition, if the wheel lands on a golden segment, players move to the next ring of the wheel. The middle one awards 2 to 15 extra free spins, while the inner part removes one pay symbol from the reels.

If 3 or more scatters land in free spins, players are awarded another spin of the wheel. It is possible to have more than one stacked symbol in play and more than one symbol removed.

Book of Inti: Slot Verdict

Despite the wheel feature, for 99% of the time, there isn't much differentiating Book of Inti from the vast majority of 'book' slots out there. The base game chugs along in typical fashion, putting up the odd decent win from a juicy paytable while waiting for three books to hit and trigger the bonus game. Even then, it isn't the easiest task on earth landing a golden segment to get to the good bits. What usually happens is the wheel picks a regular segment on the first ring, launching a standard round of free spins with expanding symbols, except you get eight rather than the usual ten.

However, there are times when Inti smiles, pushing you to the second ring for extra spins, or in even rarer situations, you might get really lucky and have a symbol removed from the reels. These are the moments of Book of Inti you spin for, yet they are few and far between. The rest of the time, you're playing a cheerful-looking Inca themed 'book' game without any sort of bells or whistles. A little surprisingly, the two extra possibilities from the free spins wheel don't really affect the game's potential either, where wins of up to 5,500x the bet are possible.

All in all, Book of Inti has a couple of novel additions, just don't bank on seeing them in action much. After triggering regular rounds of free spins a few times, it's easy to lose motivation and flip back to perennial pleasers like Book of Dead or something completely different like Book of Shadows. Perhaps if Golden Rock had powered up the potential to reflect the additional spins and symbol removal element, it might have improved the game's desirability. As it is, Book of Inti is playable enough, but it makes you work hard to experience its unique selling points.

Good

Not exactly unmissable, but Book of Inti provides classic gaming with an interesting twist to keep the spirit of Ra alive.
