More Branded Titles From NetEnt – Vikings

NetEnt seem to be putting a lot of focus on branded content as of late, specifically movie themed titles. Earlier this year NetEnt released Planet of the Apes, and a couple of weeks ago Jumanji was announced. Today NetEnt announced another two movie themed slots – Narcos and Vikings!

The slot is based on the successful HBO production Vikings and will be released towards the end of 2018.

Henrik Fagerlund, Chief Product Officer of NetEnt, said: To be able to provide our players with a different genre of branded game, showcases the hard work we’re putting in behind the scenes to create such high-quality content and further expand our portfolio.

Fagerlund added,Vikings has quickly become a TV favourite since the first season in 2013 and appeals to a vast audience worldwide. It’s a classic and historical theme packed with action and we’re sure the players will be looking forward to the launch later this year.

It’s going to be interesting to see if NetEnt will fall into the trap of creating a NetEnt version of the Yggdrasil game Vikings Go Berzerk, or if they are going to do something completely different.

I cant decide whether NETENT is smart using well known brands or if they just have lost their imagination?

I’ve been thinking the same and I’m not sure. The productions are getting bigger and bigger and its almost as if NetEnt are using these branded slots as promotional tools to ride on the fame of the brands. But at the same time the slots are getting worse and worse in terms of potential and return.

Its possible that we enthusiasts live in our own bubble and that the random player only picks games to play based on production and looks.

Nice to see you here again by the way. Hope youre well?
