In the fast-paced world of online gambling, few voices are as outspoken as Bruno Berlafa. With years of experience in the iGaming industry, Bruno is the driving force behind Casinoburst – a site that’s caught the attention of players interested in casinos operating outside of Sweden’s regulatory grip. Bruno’s deep industry knowledge and passion for player autonomy fuel his critical views on Sweden’s strict gambling rules. Let’s check out what the man has to say!
Bigwinboard: Casinoburst has built its reputation by focusing on casinos that operate outside of Swedish regulations, positioning itself firmly in the unregulated casino market. What inspired this strategic direction? Was there a particular ‘last straw’ moment that led you to establish Casinoburst?
Bruno: You know, it was really about seeing how restrictive things were becoming. After years in the industry, I couldn’t stand watching players lose their freedom bit by bit. Casinoburst was my answer to all those limits – there are still safe, great options out there, and I wanted to put that information in players’ hands.
Bigwinboard: Swedish gambling laws are tightening year by year. From where you’re sitting, how do you see these rules affecting players? Are they really doing any good?
Bruno: Honestly, they’re just sucking the fun out of everything. Restrictions are meant to ‘protect,’ but they’re driving people away to other options. We’re not talking about a big bunch of reckless players here; we’re talking about people who just want to enjoy a game without feeling watched over. At Casinoburst, our mission is to serve them fair and objective reviews of foreign casinos without a Swedish license.

Bigwinboard: Some people argue that casinos without a Swedish license aren’t as safe. What’s your take on that?
Bruno: Partially correct, but I also think that’s just outdated thinking. I’ve been in this game long enough to know reputable casinos from sketchy ones. Sure, some bad apples exist, but there are many international casinos that are licensed by serious authorities with strict standards.
It seems Spelinspektionen are focusing more on handling out huge fees to licenses operators, rather than focusing on how to improve the core product so that players don’t have to look for casinos without a Swedish license. Casinoburst only highlights casinos that are safe and transparent – players are in most cases smart enough to know the difference, and we help guide them.
Bigwinboard: Do you think Swedish players will keep moving to sites without a Swedish license, or will the laws eventually ‘win’?
Bruno: Honestly, it’s already been happening since 2019. Many players are tired of the restrictions, and more of them are looking for alternatives. I’ve seen this pattern before: when laws get too strict, players find ways around them.
Bigwinboard: A lot of people think the Swedish rules are about protecting vulnerable players. Don’t you worry Casinoburst is getting in the way of that?
Bruno: Player protection is important, but you can’t treat everyone like they need babysitting. My experience shows me that informed players are safer players. Casinoburst doesn’t ignore safety. It’s about respecting players’ ability to make their own decisions.
Bigwinboard: If you could rewrite Sweden’s gambling rules yourself, what would you do?
Bruno: First thing? Get rid of the forced limits and cooldowns – they’re insulting. Give players the power to set their own boundaries. Personalization is huge in iGaming, but these laws are anything but personal. The regulators need to give players more respect and choice, not treat everyone the same.
