AI technology is developing rapidly.
Guess when will we see an AI-generated slot?
The answer is: NOW! It’s already a thing.

SlotGPT
Recently I found a game called SlotGPT on Stake. I gave it a few tries.

Seems quite popular: 800+ new games generated today. 30,000+ games generated in total. And I can generate up to 55 slots per day.

Let’s try how good will it perform.

1st attempt: Goal is a classic 5-reel, 1 payline game with no bonus round. Sounds simple enough, right?

Prompt:

classic slot with single bar, double bar, triple bar, red/blue/green 7. 5 reel, 3 row, 1 payline (only middle line works). cheapest win is 3 bar + 2 (blank or 7) pays 2x, biggest win is 5 red 7 pays 5000x. no bonus round involved.

I got a Scatter Pays slot. It got the art style right, but that’s it.

2nd attempt: I threw in a more detailed prompt, trying to have it recreate the mechanics of the original Deadwood. Due to the prompt length limit of 1000 characters, I did not include the Super Bonus in the prompt.

Prompt:

Design a wild west themed slot.

There’s hunters and gunslingers (expanding wild symbol), and gold(top premium symbol).

Reel setup: 3-4-4-4-3, up to 576 win ways.

5 types of premium (high) symbols + 5 types of non-premium (low) symbols. Note: no regular wild symbols.

Special symbol – Expanding wild: might appear on reel 2-4, expand to cover the entire reel, plus an random multiplier from x1-x4. Total win is multiplied by the sum of those values.

Special symbol – Sheriff stars: might appear on reel 1 and 5. Landing both to all low symbols into wilds.

Special symbol – Scatter: appears on reel 2-4. Land 3 Scatters to trigger 8 free spins.

During bonus round, Scatter symbols won’t land.

Scatter conflicts with Expanding wild, they can’t co-exist on the same reel.

Free spins: Get a sticky global multiplier that begin at x1. Whenever an expanding wild lands, its multiplier will be added to the global multiplier even if it’s not part of the win.

I asked for 576 ways, and look at that! A 7×7 setup, the reel area is way bigger than my expectation. But it’s not a ways game! The AI decided to go with the cluster game template.

Conclusions
It can’t generate whatever you ask.
I believe it’s based on templates. There’s a few templates: Scatter pays template, Cluster template, Gonzo’s Quest template, plus a few that I haven’t discovered yet. Same template shall leads to same mechanics, same paytable and same math behind it. If you want a game that doesn’t match any of their existing templates, the outcome game type will be unpredictable.
All templates have a 96% RTP and a max win of no more than 5000x, this makes it easier for the game to pass the math test, and also prevents people from trying to exploit it with some prompts to generate some games above 100% RTP.
It’s more like a reskinned slot generator. I assume the main thing it does, is to generate images and sounds from user’s prompt then apply an existing template, then deliver it to you.

Yeah they are also going to pull from existing  generated gamerounds rather than generate millions of gamerounds for each 'ai game' for games that may never be played etc. Its an interesting concept

@hxlohar Hey! And what do you think about Stake Engine? You can create there the real one slot and get the real revshare they say.

I looked on their insights page and I saw a slot game that blatantly copied "Seven Deadly Sins" heh.

The games aren't high quality, but they're supposedly making some good money! I wonder if those turnover figures are real.

@lucks_maximus I can't be sure about numbers you are talking about. But I 100% sure that thing is real cause I have a friend of mine who made a game and he gets revshare now. No huge money tbh but the game is not a masterpiece as well. So if anyone has a particular skills to game dev just text me I would like to discuss it
