NetEnt is taking a swing at it’s competitors with a major release backed by giants 20th Century Fox. The first image just came in, let’s have a look!

Update: official video promo added.

We’ll start by having a look at the screenshot as it will help to understand the features:

Let’s state the obvious first. Doesn’t it look a bit, oh I don’t know…Microgaming inspired? At least that’s what struck us when we saw this picture. If it wasn’t for the typical NetEnt style layout of the control panel we would have mistaken this for an MG slot for sure.

NetEnt has tried to be innovative here and divided the game area into two halfs (I bet they were patting each other on the back for this one). The left represents the Rise area and the right…you guessed it – the Dawn area. If you’re not familiar with the movie this is the thing – the two sides mirrors the rise and fall of the ape army leader Ceasar. Very clever indeed.

Reels: 5
Rows: 3
Lines: 20

The game is action packed with features such as: the Rise and Dawn Free Spins, Bonus symbols, Scatter symbols, Wild substitutions, a Stacked Wild feature, a Dual feature and the Rise and Dawn Bonus features.

Dual Feature

During the dual feature, which can activate randomly on any spin, one symbol will be picked for each side (scatters and wilds not included) with the same symbols not being able to be picked for both sides. The reels will only contain these two symbols while the rest of the reels are blank space. Each time the symbol lands on it’s correct side of the play area it will stick. If it lands on the opposing side it will be transfered to the correct side and…nevermind. Simplified it’s a bit like the sticky respin in Aloha! (yawn).

The both sides have their own unique Bonus features and Free Spins features as well.

Rise Area:

  • The Rise Bonus feature is an additional coin win that is awarded for every human and ape symbol displayed on the screen.
  • Rise Free Spins: During the feature only the Rise play area is active and the number of Wild symbols that land on each spin are collected in a Wild meter on the screen. Each Wild symbol landing on reels will add to the meter by 1. On the last spin, after the reels stop spinning (but before any wins are evaluated) all collected Wild symbols are randomly placed on the play area and, once this has finished, the win will be evaluated.

Dawn Area:

  • The Dawn Bonus feature transforms ape and human symbols into the same symbol.
  • Dawn Free Spins: During the feature only the Dawn play area is active with 3 different collect symbols that activate a corresponding meter: Multiplier, Extra Wild and Extra Free Spins. When a collect symbol lands, it fills the corresponding meter by 1. When the meter is full, it activates a feature with each meter requiring 3 symbols to become full. The Extra Free Spins meter awards 3 extra Free Spins every time it is filled.
The player starts the Dawn Free Spins with multiplier 1. Each time the Multiplier meter is filled the multiplier is increased by 1, until
the x5 multiplier is reached. The current multiplier/Wild symbol will be highlighted on the game screen. The Extra Wild meter turns one of the human symbols into an Extra Wild symbol every time it is filled for the remainder of the Free Spins.

Conclusion

Rtp is set at 96.33% which is quite standard. Maximum win is 3000x, which is better than many NetEnt games but certainly not amazing if you’re into more high volatility stuff. The max win is possible to hit in the Dawn Free Spins.

We hope to report back as soon as we get more information and after some more hands on testing.
