Lately, running the promos has become increasingly difficult. Bigwinboard is run by a very small team, and we originally started these giveaways for fun, as a way to give something back to the community. Unfortunately, they’ve become too time-consuming to manage due to people not following the rules, constant complaints, and the need to deal with cheating. It’s simply not sustainable anymore, so something will have to change.
Either these promos will come to an end, or I’ll need to rethink the entire approach. But as it stands right now, I cannot keep doing it this way. There's also not enough participants to make the whole thing worthwhile long term imo.
@jordqka I can understand that people find cheaters annoying and want to complain about it, but I frankly cannot continue to police the whole thing like I run some kind of casino. It's not fun, it's too time consuming and it's not worth it to be honest. Nothing of this drives the site or community forward and most participants don't contribute to the site in any meaningful way other than to participate in the promos.
Either we find a casino that can handle crediting prizes (like Gamdom) or I stop doing it altogether and offer providers an advertising package instead with banners and general exposure and visibility on the site and socials.
Yeah not much to add daniel,
it started very very fun , but now its not anymore since there joined a lot of greedy and toxic people .
hope we can make the community great again 🙂
@tobsn1322 indeed, it used to be fun and lighthearted but now it's like a war every single time. I guess a lot of people see there is consistently money to be made and it corrupts the whole thing.
Yeah exactly back in the day it was just about a „sidequest“ .. i fell like nowadays there are people just trying to win the vouchers and tryhard so much ..
Maybe u can adjust some „requirements“ here and there so all the greedy people keep leaving the forum .. but i understand that‘s not gonna solve the whole „problem“
@tobsn1322 I don't think introducing requirements like "do x number of reviews weekly" or "at least 10 comments per month" will work because people tend to just do the bare minimum and the quality sinks.
I think either I stop doing these giveaways altogether or I outsource the "checks" to casinos who credit the winners accounts. That way if there are any concerns it's up to the casino to carry out proper checks and I'm not involved.
The problem is that I still need to manage the threads and make sure people are following the rules etc and that's a major headache too.
I think in many ways giveaways attract people but often the wrong kind of people. You want to build community engagement and I'm not sure this is doing it.
I think most of the community are members that are very thankful for the promos in general, but unfortunately we have a lot of whiners here that never gets happy. They complain over the format of the giveaway because it's not benefitial for their way of gambling, and even when they break the rules they come with excuses and expect they will get away with it. On top of that we constantly have new members with 1 post that joins the forum ONLY because they lead/won a free to play tourney.. It's easy to understand that this is exhausting.
And I must admit that most of us could contribute more on the forum, doesn't matter if it's a slot review or something else.
And @jordqka. I felt that one was a shot in my direction. My short answer is - I don't like cheaters. And if no one was doing it on purpose - it was a friendly reminder of the rules - and nothing to get mad about..
In the end they would have been disqualifed regardless of my posts in the thread.
Daniel I think if you continue to do competitions you should cut down on the frequency of them like it was before maybe one for Halloween ,Christmas etc or when a developer is releasing a big game and wants some exposure .I think this would cut down on the spammy posts and the forums would have a lot more meaningful topics about slots and gambling and would be a lot less hassle for you
With two/three active mods things must change for sure, give it a try!
Either we find a casino that can handle crediting prizes (like Gamdom) or I stop doing it altogether and offer providers an advertising package instead with banners and general exposure and visibility on the site and socials.
If Gamdom collaborated, it would be easier, we could have the highest multi win and whoever participated would just drop the gamdom ID, then the entry to be valid the user would need to wager a certain amount in the slot during the promotional period, a bit like their weekend freespins.
It also got worse because a lot of people joined in after pragmatic promoted the forum as a replacement for their old social tournaments, so a lot of free to play people joined in.
But in my opinion, these last couple of months there have been quite too many tournaments
@badger wasn't a shot at you mate, was a shot at the people trying to get the giveaway rerolled after the tournament had ended.
But also, not really a shot at anyone in particular, it's just been a bit tiresome seeing all the complaints of the giveaways recently knowing that the complaints are likely going to spoil a good thing. No malice intended, apologies if it came off that way.
So if I were to appoint a moderator or two to manage the promo threads and handle the whole process of picking winners (transparently of course), who is interested or who would you recommend? Obviously it should be long standing members with a solid reputation.
