It’s official now – the Twitch gambling meta has found its way into the top 10 most-watched categories on the Twitch streaming platform, overtaking video game Call of Duty Warzone in terms of hours watched.
As most of our readers know by now, casino streaming has proven to be a highly controversial topic and a heavily debated one too. For a long time, the category managed to keep itself somewhat under the radar but all of that changed when crypto casinos such as Stake and Roobet entered the scene and began sponsoring streamers with fake funds, none withdrawable cash and various shady deals.
Despite all of this, and even with a petition to ban gambling on the platform, the popularity of the Twitch gambling category has gradually kept increasing, now even managing to outcompete some of the top streamed video games. According to statistics from Rainmaker.gg, a StreamElements analytics partner, the slots category overtook Call of Duty Warzone, making it the 10th most-watched category on Twitch. However, looking at more recent data, it appears the slots category has dropped down 11 though by a very small margin.

The data indicates that in May of 2022, viewers watched 39 million hours of online slots on Twitch, which is 6 million more than Call of Duty Warzone. For reference, at the very top, the Just Chatting category reigns supreme with over 270 million hours watched during the month of May, thus dwarfing second-place League of Legends by over 100 million.
A large part of the success can in part be contributed to popular streamer personality Trainwreck who had the most hours watched on Twitch after he spent nearly 300 hours broadcasting his gambling sessions in May.
