The game is presented as if players are snorkelling up top, looking down on a deep blue undersea world of sunken boat parts, rocks, and sand. All innocuous stuff… until the three shark characters start circling on the reels. Megadon Triple Threat's features are made up of Hangry Meters and Shark Feasts. Each of the 3 x Hangry Meters is filled by its corresponding coloured scatter symbol. The green is collected by the Hammerhead Hangry Meter, blue by the Mega Don Hangry Meter, and orange by the Leopard Hangry Meter. Collecting coloured scatters may trigger up to 3 Shark Feasts - Leopard Feast, Hammerhead Feast, and Mega Don Feast. All come with 8 free spins.

• Leopard Feast - On each spin, the Leopard randomly eats 1 to 5 small fish symbols on reels 2-5, upgrading them to Leopard Wilds. This feature and the next cannot be retriggered.
• Hammerhead Feast - The Hammerhead eats Electric Eel wilds and upgrades them to Hammerhead Wilds with an x2 multiplier. Multipliers apply to any win that includes a wild. Multiple multipliers in the same win are added together.
• Mega Don Feast - One initial active small fish symbol is selected. Mega Don eats the active small fish and upgrades it to a Mega Don symbol. Collecting 3 blue scatters awards +3 free spins and randomly activates 1 additional small fish, up to 6 small fish and a maximum of 30 total free spins.

Megadon Triple Threat: Slot Verdict

Whilst there are similarities between the three slots, Megadon Triple Threat also branches off from the two previous releases in several ways. One is its bland base game, devoid of any extra features. There is coloured scatter collection, as Hangry Meters are filled, but if Shark Feasts don't trigger, they don't really do anything. So, that phase of play wasn't the most exciting patch of water to doggy paddle through. It was quite fun seeing the gang back in the water, pointing out the newer and not-so-newer parts, though the game didn't come alive until the Hangry Meters started turning the feasts up.

While Megadon Triple Threat shares some of the same framework and characters as its predecessors, it moves on to diversify its effects. Where the previous two games leaned almost exclusively on symbols upgrading to more valuable symbols mechanics for their thrills, Megadon Triple Threat includes this but expands into different territories. The newer components don't ooze crazy new ideas, yet being able to upgrade symbols to wilds or wild multipliers adds a new twist. The centrepiece is arguably the Mega Don Feast since it allows retriggers, which not only add more spins but also add another active small fish to the list. Adding more blood to the water in order to get prospective players nibbling, Megadon Triple Threat boasts the biggest max win number of them all at 25,000x the bet, while offering a wider range of ways to go about possibly, maybe, achieving it.

Collection pot slots continue their rise, and Play'n GO has added one with a sharp set of teeth. As mentioned, the base game is pretty dull, bonus buys might have been appreciated, but large winning potential, a recognisable trio of Chondrichthyes, and a nice set of up to three features that can be employed when free spins are active make it a positive addition to this growing genre.
