Both Microgaming and NetEnt announced they would release slots based on the famous musical The Phantom of the Opera. We even got release dates, but what happend?

July 24 was the day NetEnt would launch the Phantom of the Opera Videoslot. The game was apparently completed and ready to be shipped as it was even available for play with play money on some sites. Microgaming’s version we heard or seen nothing more about other than rumours.

In case we haven’t missed something, like an exclusive release somewhere, it is very likely the game ran into copyright issues. Fact is a lot of games recently released have balanced on a very fine line and a few providers have been forced to make last minute changes – Yggdrasil had to change the title of their upcoming release Jungle Books because of it’s apparent similarity to The Jungle Book and with the release of Emoticoins Microgaming took advantage of the movie premiere of Emoji Movie. So it’s very likely NetEnts Phantom of the Opera infringed so much on the rights not even a title change could save it.

But we did manage to try it out before it was pulled from light and no tears will be shed from our side, that’s for sure. This is a low to medium volatile slot with an rtp of 96.57% reminding us a lot of NetEnts Secret of Atlantis (rtp 97,1%) in regards to mechanics. The max win is 160,000 coins or 800x which is really not that impressive.

We still hope to see it one day however as it is a really well designed game and would likely be appreciated by people who enjoys some medium volatile action. Protection Status ©, 2019.
