The Immortal Captain Rizk: Slot Overview
Developer Microgaming pads out the exclusive slot range at Rizk Casino staring their dashing superhero Captain Rizk with a second branded slot to follow up on the release of Captain Rizk Megaways. If you like the look of the game but aren’t a customer, there is no need to fret or jump ship. Spoiler alert; Microgaming has simply reskinned their amorously inclined vampire hit Immortal Romance to make a superhero game, and given the title, it's not like they're trying to hide its true identity. Since the original is such a classic, it makes reviewing The Immortal Captain Rizk! a little tricky, but let’s give it a go.
Players practically need sunglasses as they move out of the dingy crypt into the bright lights of a modern metropolis where the game takes place. A 5-reel, 243 win ways game area is spun before a skyline bathed in pastel tones as light filters in from above. Microgaming has accentuated the comic book element by incorporating a halftone method of using dots to denote darker shades on the reels. An invigorating action hero-inspired track completes the scene.
Being a clone, players can take full advantage of Immortal Romance’s desirable set of numbers. First up is the generous RTP rating of 96.86%, accompanied by an eventful hit rate of 31.21%. Volatility, meanwhile, is lower than you might expect from this game. However, its medium volatile math model makes for comparably gentle gaming and is sweetened by excellent winning potential. Add it all up and you’ve got a math model more desirable than spending the rest of eternity with an immortal being, albeit a blood-sucking one.
The Immortal Captain Rizk! may be played on any device, offering an unusual range of bets from 30 p/c to £/€19.50 per spin. As to symbols, the low pays are a bunch of 9-A royals, followed by the Captain dressed as a security guard and his pet doggy. Sadly Michael, Troy, Amber and Sarah have gone to make way for four premium symbols displaying Captain Rizk in various poses. Maybe it’s us, but the cap has never looked so ripped, nor his jaw so chiselled. Anyway, land five of him on a line for wins of 11.67 to 16.67 times the bet. The bright yellow and orange logo is the wild which substitutes for any symbols except the scatter. When it is used as part of a combination, the winning amount is doubled in value.
The Immortal Captain Rizk: Slot Features
The Immortal Captain Rizk! provides four free spins games, joined by a Super Wild feature (know as the iconic 'Wild Desire' feature in IR) which can appear at random. When Super Wilds are active, up to five reels are turned wild, creating wins worth impressive stacks of coins when the right symbols are in play.
Handy, yet the main show is the free spins feature, triggered when 3 or more scatters are in view. The more times you trigger free spins, the more varieties become available as you progress to unlock each feature. These are the ones on offer:
- 10 free spins where all wins are multiplied by x5. This bonus is available from the first trigger and may be retriggered.
- 15 free spins with a hover feature which randomly turns symbols into x2 or x3 multipliers. Combined multipliers of up to x6 are possible, and this bonus is available from the fifth trigger.
- 20 free spins with Rolling Reels. Rolling Reels awards a consecutive win system making use of a progressive multiplier up to x5. This one is available from the tenth trigger.
- 25 free spins with the Wild Laser feature on reel 3 which randomly turns symbols into wilds. Landing 2, 3, 4, or 5 scatters awards 1, 2, 3, or 4 more spins. This bonus is available after the 15th trigger.
Microgaming hasn’t bothered to name these ones after anything this time around which loses some of the allure, but doesn’t stop them from functioning as well as ever.
The Immortal Captain Rizk: Slot Verdict
Fear not fans of the original, in general, The Immortal Captain Rizk! is as playable as Microgaming’s classic vampire game. Yet, the overall impact pales in comparison to the first. For one it loses a few points being a clone and all, plus it is the second time around the block. The main issues are the intricate details have gone, the tension between vampires and their groupies is missing, and the whole walk on the wild side isn’t there. Immortal Romance was a master class in world-building which made playing it such an enjoyable experience, not to mentioned the soundtrack which by many is considered the best one to ever accompany an online slot. The clone is helped that it possessed some enviable stats though, and in The Immortal Captain Rizk’s favour, they reappear virtually unchanged. Crucially for many, 12,000 times the stake wins are still on the cards.
The Immortal Captain Rizk! is still a fun game to play. Microgaming has nailed the irreverent attitude, the over the top, slightly ridiculous, yet fun approach that can be disarmingly friendly. Microgaming has captured much of the Rizk spirit, combining it perfectly with the cartoon appearance. Stylistically, it doesn’t have any of the gothic atmosphere of the first one or the benefit of a back story. It’s not really the fault of the studio though, they can’t exactly make Captain Rizk undead, and watching him be chased by fawning pale doe-eyed beauties would be odd. The studio avoids any uncomfortableness by lightning everything, so the slot can slide easily and inoffensively into the Rizk line up.
One thing playing The Immortal Captain Rizk! does is remind you of what a bang-up job Microgaming did when they designed Immortal Romance. While the same features and gameplay are present here as well, without all the extra trappings something fundamental has been lost. While there is no issue with The Immortal Captain Rizk! whatsoever, sometimes you wonder if it would be better just to play the original and lose yourself in its darkly delicious environment.
Rizk Casino is honoured by a reskin job that sees Microgaming clone one of their most popular slots of all undead time, Immortal Romance.
