Twitch streamer DNP3, best known for his video game-related giveaways, recently revealed that he had lost almost everything to a serious gambling addiction formed over the course of 2022, and it all began with a sponsored gambling stream.

Online casino gambling was a glaring point of heated disagreement within the streaming community last year. Big content creators like xQc and Trainwreckstv popularised spending massive amounts of cash into online casinos like Stake.com with the goal of landing millions of dollars via online slots.

Spending many hours a day, these streamers would spend thousands of dollars per spin in pursuit of a big win, but what many don’t realise is that they’re bankrolled by sponsor money or, as some have suggested, even in some cases playing with fake money and games rigged in their favour. In other words, it’s a sinister representation of what actual gambling is and one with the potential to do great harm.

After many months of pressure from the community, Twitch finally took the decision to ban gambling on unregulated casinos (although some still get away with it, streaming on places like Gamdom). However, whilst the content creators were concerned with viewers becoming addicted to gambling, no one seems to have noticed that one of their own was “losing everything”.

On January 3, Twitch streamer DNP3 published a tweet with the title “I’m sorry” that went into how he had lost everything to a gambling addiction that developed during the course of last year.

“Over the last year, I got incredibly addicted to gambling. Every dollar I could find, I would put into Stake in hopes of winning big. Even when the big wins did happen, it wasn’t enough. Eventually, I lost everything” DNP3 wrote in his message. He further went on to express how when his life savings had run out, he turned to money from his investors to “win his money back” from the casino.

DNP3 explained how he is “completely broke” both financially and spiritually and has lost all trust in himself. It was also revealed that DNp3 is working with a support group to begin the road to recovery, also mentioning how he wishes to “break free” from the dark world of gambling.

In a response to a worried follower, DNp3 noted that the addiction started with a sponsored stream that “unleashed an addiction I never knew I had.”

DNP3 is the founder of Gridcraft, CLU Coin and also Goobers NTFs – projects he used investor funds from to fuel his gambling addiction. DNp3 ended his message with an apology to his family members, friends, and investors, admitting he betrayed their trust, disappointed them and did not live up to his own values of integrity.
