The Twitch community has constantly sparked discussions regarding gambling streams, with a considerable number of viewers and streamers airing their concerns over the large sums of money that are being bet.
Some have also expressed their dissatisfaction with well-known streamers who have formed partnerships with certain gambling sites, prompting calls for Twitch to take action. In response, the platform, which is owned by Amazon, banned several highly promoted websites used by streamers in September.
xQc, who previously engaged in gambling on his streams, has challenged those who decried the initial ban on gambling content on Twitch. He questions why there is a lack of criticism for channels that are still hosting gambling streams, despite their smaller viewership.
On his February 2nd stream, he asked, “Where is all the outrage from the anti-gamba andys? Where are all the f*cking tweets? Where are all the problems? All these guys, combined, maybe have 20-30k viewers, where’s everybody gone? Where are all the callouts?”.
He continued by saying, “They’re breaking terms of service on top of gambling and people care less about these guys than whenever one or two big streamers were doing it, even though it was allowed on the site. Isn’t that f*cking insane?”
The Canadian Twitch streamer also suggested that those who initially took a stance against gambling streams on Twitch should continue their efforts.
“I’m not even saying I’m mad, I’m just saying if you’re going to fight the fight, don’t say ‘oh dude, I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do’ Nah, it’s because you’re a virtue signaling p*ssy ass b*tch. That’s what it is. If you’re going to go at it, do it the right way, or don’t do it at all,” he said.
Twitch’s policy on gambling streams isn’t a blanket ban, and it does permit streams involving sports betting. Only the crypto casinos mentioned in its community guidelines are prohibited from being streamed.
