For a long time, Twitch has had a tumultuous relationship with gambling on its platform. Initially, the site had few restrictions on gambling during streams. However, after some of the biggest names on the platform petitioned for change, Twitch eventually decided to crack down on the practice.
Despite the ban, many gambling streams are still up and running on Twitch. However, some of the former Stake crypto streamers, including xQc, are no longer permitted to host gambling streams under the updated rules.
Trainwrecks and other prominent Twitch streamers have called out the platform for allowing gambling streams to continue, despite the ban. xQc, another big streaming personality, has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation.
While attempting to beat his Minecraft speedrun, xQc’s chat informed him of Neymar Jr’s stream. To his surprise, Neymar was openly betting thousands of dollars during his stream. xQc expressed his frustration, saying, “This seems like some pick and choose bulls***.” He then continued: “I don’t want to be some anti-Twitch bandwagoner, but this is some pretty big pick and choose dogshit based on current outrage situation to feed the morons.”
xQc continued to say he believes that Twitch should not allow this behavior and that if he or Trainwrecks attempted to stream gambling, they would be banned immediately.
When some suggested that the site Neymar was gambling on, Blaze, was not specifically mentioned in Twitch’s ban announcement, xQc argued that the ban applies to all forms of online gambling, not just certain websites. Some suggested that the rules may not apply to Neymar since he was streaming from Brazil. However, xQc pointed out that he had previously streamed gambling content while residing in Canada.
xQc is clearly unhappy with the double standards regarding the gambling ban. Despite the regulations, many gambling streams remain on Twitch.
