Ants Attack Slot

Ants Attack gives Bullshark Games something many slots struggle to achieve before the mechanics even enter the equation: an immediately recognisable identity. Instead of another trip to Egypt or Greek mythology, rival ant colonies are fighting across a miniature battlefield. The military-insect theme is unusual, and the colourful battlefield presentation provides an entertaining setting for a game built primarily around escalating reel multipliers.

The action takes place across 5 reels and 4 rows with 20 fixed paylines. Stakes range from €0.10 to €75, the default RTP is 96.30%, and the maximum payout is 12,000x the bet. Expanding Wilds can appear on any reel and grow upwards, downwards or in both directions until they cover the entire reel, providing the more conventional part of the feature set.

Four Reel Multipliers positioned above reels 2-5 provide the main attraction, with each starting at x1. Whenever a winning combination passes through these reels, the relevant values are multiplied together before being applied to the payout. This means reels carrying x2, x3 and x4, for example, produce a combined x24 multiplier rather than x9. Multiplier Upgrader symbols appearing on reels 2-5 increase the corresponding Reel Multiplier by between x1 and x10. Multiple Upgraders can land together and have their increases added before transforming into regular paying symbols or Wilds. In the base game, all Reel Multipliers reset with each new spin.

Three Scatters trigger Ant March with 8 Free Spins, where that limitation is removed and the Reel Multipliers remain progressive throughout the feature. This gives Upgraders considerably more importance because improvements can continue benefiting later spins rather than disappearing immediately. Additional Scatters award 1 extra spin before changing into either a random regular symbol or Wild.

Four Scatters instead activate Colony Assault with 10 Free Spins. The persistent Reel Multipliers work identically, but the opening spin is guaranteed to contain at least 3 Multiplier Upgrader symbols, providing an immediate opportunity to develop the four values. Optional modes include BonusHunt FeatureSpins for 3x the bet, increasing the bonus probability fivefold, while Supply Run costs 50x and guarantees at least 2 Wilds and 2 Multiplier Upgraders on every spin. Ant March and Colony Assault can also be purchased for 100x and 300x respectively.

The multiplication between individual Reel Multipliers is what gives Ants Attack its teeth. Additive values would have made the system considerably less interesting, whereas several developed reels can combine into much larger numbers when the right payline crosses them. Naturally, the bonuses offer the better environment for this mechanic because the values stop resetting, and Colony Assault's guaranteed opening Upgraders give the stronger feature a useful head start.

The 96.30% RTP and 12,000x ceiling are respectable, while the ant warfare theme gives the game some welcome personality. It's not an especially complicated setup, but the progressive multipliers and unusual presentation combine well enough to make Ants Attack one of Bullshark's more distinctive concepts.
