Book of Ra Magic Introduction

We don't usually review Novomatic slots because, let's face it, if you've played one, you've pretty much played them all. That doesn't mean we don't like them - on the contrary! We're huge fans of the classic Novo slots and play them online as well as on land-based casinos quite regularly. Either way, this is one of the more interesting Novos to come out in quite a while and it totally slipped under the radar.

Being one of the most iconic of all casino games, Book of Ra hardly needs a detailed introduction, which is why we won't go in depth here as the only difference is an additional feature added to the free spins - a feature which makes all the difference to say the least.

Ok, we'll be forgiving - if you don't know Book of Ra, here's the setup. It's made out of 5 reels, 3 rows, and up to 10 adjustable paylines. Players can bet between €0.01 and €50 and it comes with a 95% RTP, which is on the lower end of what's acceptable in our opinion.

The paytable remains the same as the original, with a 5000 times the stake jackpot should you land a full screen of the Explorer symbol. Most of us, however, will never live to see 3 of them to be honest. 5 Explorers across a payline in the main game gives a 500x return, which is not bad either, although it's extremely uncommon to have.

Book of Ra Magic Free Spins

Max win

Some of you have likely figured it out already - this is Book of Ra with elements of Merkur's Magic Mirror Deluxe II included. The iGaming industry is a bit funny since everyone's shamelessly copying from each other, and with the recent release of Book of Gods, Big Time Gaming pretty much did what Novomatic themselves are trying now. Guess you could say BTG beat Novomatic at their own game. So as it turns out we now have 3 similar games to choose from by 3 different providers. Which one do we like the best? We'll get to that in the summary.

If you just accidentally stumbled upon this site while browsing for porn and thus happen to be unfamiliar with the above-mentioned games, this is how the bonus works: 3 or more books anywhere on the reels activate the free spins and one of the symbols is randomly chosen. When 3 or more of the chosen symbol lands on the reels, they will expand full reel and pay in any position on the lines played. If you retrigger the game, an additional symbol will be randomly chosen, allowing multiple symbols to expand on a single spin. It's possible to activate up to 9 symbols if you catch the game in a retrigger happy mood.

Book of Ra Magic Conclusion

We LOVE Book of Ra, although, like with most Novos, it can be extremely frustrating to play as it is very high variance and spins fast. This is also a traditional retro-type slot and may cater more to the hardcore slots player.

Book of Ra is an iconic game, so does it really benefit from this messing around? The answer is - yes! In our opinion it's an improvement and makes the bonuses much more exciting to play. It's nice to know for example, that if you're awarded a crap symbol such as the 10's, you still have the possibility to unlock the Explorer should a retrigger arrive. The combination of several activated symbols could obviously also result in some massive dingers.

The golden question - which one do we prefer out of Magic Mirror Deluxe II, Book of Gods, or Book of Ra Magic? We have no doubt that if you were to ask 10 different people chances are you would end up with 10 different answers, but if you're asking us, our answer is Book of Ra Magic. With Novos, you either love them or hate them and we happen to love them, Book of Ra in particular, so this one happens to be a no-brainer for us. Oh how happy we are to have found another nemesis...
