Brides of Dracula Hold & Win: Slot Overview
One of the oldest blood-sucking villains in fiction, Dracula has arisen to star in another Twisted Tales slot from developer iSoftbet. The Count might seem a tad anachronistic these days, a bit of a fogey as it were, what with the rise of young 'hot' vampires, but he remains one of the originals and an instantly recognisable baddie. iSoftbet has injected the famous Transylvanian's star power into their popular Hold & Win range, alongside a trio of female vamps, in the slot Brides of Dracula Hold & Win.
If you like the thought of taking a walk on the slightly wilder side yet are a little squeamish, you needn't worry about loading up Brides of Dracula Hold & Win. In this game, Dracula is presented with a big grin on his face, obviously in an optimistic mood. Well, he's got three suitors lining up to marry him, so life, or unlife, is clearly working out. The light-hearted Hotel Transylvania type approach extends to all of the character symbols, and the background imagery is good too. The graphics have a nice finish, depicting Dracula's castle on the right beneath a full moon amongst the mist and the fire lights, while bare winter trees line the left.
Played on a semi-transparent 5-reel, 3-row game grid, players get 25 fixed paylines to hit winning combinations across. This translates to stakes that start at 25 p/c on the low side, rising to £/€25 on the higher side. Digging deeper into the maths, we find a medium/high volatile model, generating a so-so return value of 95.5%. Not terrible, but not the most generous rating for either the Hold & Win or Twisted Tales series.
While waiting around for the Hold & Win to trigger, players score regular payouts when three or more matching symbols land left to right from reel number one. Four gothic-styled J-A royals make up the low pays, three fanged brides and Dracula as the highs. Landing a full five premium symbol combination is worth a payout of 6 to 16 times the stake. Van Helsing and his epic hat take the role of wild, landing anywhere to replace regular pay symbols or create combinations worth up to 20x the bet for five wilds on a payline.
Brides of Dracula Hold & Win: Slot Features
The main point of Brides of Dracula is triggering its Hold & Win feature called the Brides of Dracula Respins. Then the action shifts inside The Count's house to a charming indoor location while lightning blasts away outside the windows. As well as this core feature is Pick A Letter which leads to several modifiers.
Pick A Letter
On any spin, the Pick A Letter feature may trigger, overlaying the reels with three sealed letters. Players click one of them to win one of 3 modifiers:
- Win Spin – mystery symbols are added to the reels. Each mystery symbols that hits transforms into the same random pay symbol type to guarantee a win.
- Bonus Add – scatters are added to all of the reels for an increased chance of triggering Brides of Dracula Respins.
- Wild Desire – 2 to 5 stacked wilds are created on the grid, each one covering all positions on their respective reel. A nod to Immortal Romance, one of the classic slots in the undead genre.
Brides of Dracula Respins
Landing 5 or more moon scatters in view trigger Brides of Dracula Respins. Here, 3 respins are awarded to start with, and any scatter that lands during the feature stick in place and reset the respins. On top of this are several Reel Boosters. Collecting 3 gems of the same kind triggers a booster:
- Blue gems unlock up to 3 additional rows.
- Green gems increase all landed scatter values. This can occur up to three times per bonus round.
- Red gems increase the total number of respins by 1.
- Purple gems increase the multiplier level through x2, x5, to x10.
Scatter values in the feature are worth anywhere from 1x to 1,000x the bet, and any multiplier won is applied to the final win amount.
Brides of Dracula Hold & Win: Slot Verdict
iSoftbet must have hit something that's working for them because these Hold & Win games are rolling off the line at a steady rate. Brides of Dracula Hold & Win is one of the better ones too. It seems the team put extra effort into the game's presentation, giving it a nice cartoon show quality, sitting it proudly in the Twisted Tales series. It might have had more oomph if Dracula wasn't grinning like a schoolboy, but hey, he's about to wed three lady vampires, so we should cut him some slack. Hopefully, he's thought this through fully, though. Three wives, for eternity, would require a lot of give and take, compromising, or working out who's doing what chore around the castle, so we'll have to wait and see how long the grin lasts.
The good thing, or at least, the interesting thing, is Brides of Dracula Hold & Win has one of the more sophisticated bonus rounds in these sorts of iSoftbet games. Thanks to the gem triggered Reel Boosters, the respins can be quite entertaining. Though, collecting three of one kind to activate their effects isn't the easiest task. The most common modifiers during our sessions tended to be red gems increasing the number of respins and blue gems unlocking extra rows. Multipliers were scarce and are no doubt the key to unlocking Brides of Dracula Hold & Win 6,040x max win.
If Gold Digger tickled your fancy, then swap the pickaxe for some garlic because Brides of Dracula Hold & Win probably will too. It's got a great baroque look, a fun, campy vampire atmosphere, and the features are solid if you're onto the hold & win thing.
Nothing about Brides of Dracula is new in any way, but it all comes together in a pretty package for players keen on hold & win style gaming.
