From the rhythmical stylings of 9 Masks of Fire to the illegal selling of alcoholic beverages, it seems the scatter symbol/prize ladder gaming feature shows no signs of slowing down. If nothing else, it's proven to be a versatile feature turning up in games with all manner of themes and varied subject matter. This has to be the first time it's turned up in a bootlegging game, though, a fairly unique topic for a slot in its own right. To reflect this, Quickspin has made an alteration to the usual blueprint meaning the way Brooklyn Bootleggers awards its prizes is a bit different than has been done in the past.

As for the change itself, it's hard to say whether it's a superior or inferior way of doing things compared to how these features tend to play out. Usually, all you need to do is hit the minimum number of the right symbols, and you collect a bit of cash. That bit is sort of the same here, but only if The Lock Up has framed some of the grid's positions first. Is it better, is it annoying? Players' choice at the end of the day, of course. Some may like the twist, others may prefer just straight-up hitting scatters and being done with it.
