Originally released in 2012, Cats & Cash arrived without making much noise. Come 2018, Play’n GO felt it was time for a resuscitation.

  • Includes the Wheel of Fortune and Pick-a-Gift features

  • Win up to 5000x…according to Play’n GO

Cats & Cash old version

Cats & Cash Introduction

Cats & Cash was first launched in 2012 and despite having been available for years, we couldn’t seem to find any impressive wins while doing research about the game. This of course doesn’t mean it has never happened but we’d be genuinely surprised to see even a 1000x win on this slot that is advertised as having a 5000x max win potential.

Cats & Cash is a 5-reel, 3-row slot with up to 15 paylines and a 96.07% RTP. Players are allowed to bet between €0.01 – €75 and up to 5 coins per line. It has a retro television game show theme featuring two funky disco cats as hosts. The only difference compared to the old version is the update from Flash to HTML5 and the graphics obviously, but the cats still feel outdated and kind of cringy.

Cats & Cash Symbols

paytable with premium symbols on display

Symbols on the reels include gold bars, diamond necklaces, bankrolls, cool cats, pussy cats (?), luxury cats and nerdy cats, with the gold bars being the most valuable grossing 166x for 5 across a full line. The game also includes a wild symbol that doubles all wins (666x for 5 oak), as well as a scatter symbol that doesn’t trigger any features but pays out wins without having to connect on a line. 5 scatter symbols are worth 400x.

There are loads of Bonus symbols on the reels which of course can result in one of 2 bonus games, but more often than not they’re just blocking potential wins.

Cats & Cash Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune feature

3 or more bonus wheel symbols on any active line from left to right trigger the Wheel of Fortune bonus. The wheel is spun and if it lands on an orange segment with stars, a prize is awarded and a respin takes place for an additional prize. Play’n GO advertises a 5000x max win in this feature, but we remain sceptical to this claim.

According to Play’n GO themselves it has been certified with this max win so it should be possible. We just can’t figure out how that should be possible except if the wheel is allowed to respin forever, or if the max win is displayed as a multiplier value as opposed to the other wins on the wheels being displayed in coin value.

Cats & Cash Pick-a-Gift

Pick-a-Gift feature

If you land 3 or more gift box symbols on any active line from left to right you trigger the Pick-a-Gift feature. It’s pretty much a standard picking bonus that you’ve seen a thousand times before by now, only this one has taken inspiration from the game show versions. Players pick a box and then reveal the other prizes by either clicking each box individually or by pressing the “reveal all” button, after which your own gift box prize will be revealed to you. This feature can pay out a maximum of 2000x according to Play’n GO.

Cats & Cash Conclusion

Cats & Cash is a medium to high variance slot with a 5000x max win potential in the Wheel of Fortune bonus and a 2000x max win potential in the Pick-a-Gift feature, numbers we had doubts about until a player sent us the screenshot seen below, having landed the 5000x max win on a 1 line setting.

Personally, we’re not big fans of this game despite the proven potential and if we ever felt the urge to play a cat slot we’d go for good old classic 243 win ways Pretty Kitty by Microgaming instead.
