Dark Waters 3 Power Combo The Cursed Voyage Slot (Mini Review)

Dark Waters 3 Power Combo: The Cursed Voyage is a 6x4 slot from Just For The Win using a 4,096 ways to win format. It continues the pirate theme established in the earlier Dark Waters titles, placing the reels in front of a ghostly ship drifting through misty seas. The game runs on high volatility with a maximum win of 5,000x the bet and a hit frequency of 30.39%, meaning wins appear reasonably often but tend to vary in size.
Wins are created by landing at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left. Card ranks form the lower-paying symbols, while themed icons such as bottles, knives, hats, guns and anchors offer slightly higher payouts. The wild symbol substitutes regular symbols but does not replace money symbols, token symbols or collect symbols.
Money symbols can appear anywhere on the reels and carry values between 0.5x and 10x the bet, or one of four jackpots: Mini (15x), Minor (40x), Major (200x) and Mega (5,000x). When a collect symbol lands, the value of all money symbols from that spin is added together and paid out. During the early part of the base game, collect symbols only appear on reel 6, but after 150 spins they can also land on reel 1. A base game progression meter unlocks additional mechanics as spins accumulate. These stages gradually introduce features such as giant reels, golden reels and stacked collect symbols, and later ensure those features begin at higher levels during bonus spins.
Bonus spins start with 10 free spins and can be triggered by landing bonus tokens connected to three separate mechanics: Giant Reels, Stack Collect and Golden Reels. If multiple tokens trigger the feature together, their corresponding mechanics can run at the same time. During the bonus, landing a new feature token can activate an additional mechanic and award three extra spins. The Giant Reels feature expands the grid from 6x4 up to 6x8 depending on its level, increasing the number of ways to win. Stack Collect increases the number of collect symbols appearing on reels 1 and 6, while Golden Reels turn reels 2–5 entirely into money symbols. Each of these mechanics can reach four progression levels.
A feature buy menu is also available. Options include Bonus Hunt for 1.5x the bet, Coin Burst for 15x, Crew’s Choice for 70x with random bonus features, and Captain’s Choice for 100x with two to three features guaranteed during bonus spins.
The structure follows the same Power Combo formula used in previous Dark Waters releases, with several features layered together and the possibility of combining multiple mechanics during the bonus round. While the system offers plenty of moving parts, much of it will feel familiar to anyone who has played earlier entries in the series, as the overall design stays very close to what came before.
