Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Overview
While many of us won’t get the chance to navigate our way down a Diamond Mine, this online slot from Blueprint Gaming will certainly provide players with quite the mining experience. There’s a full-bearded miner who is willing to lead the way for this too, so you’ll never get lost in these mines. Who knows what you might find in there. There could be a whole slew of precious gemstones for you to claim as your own. And if you do manage to come across a diamond, then be sure to hold on to it.
Diamond Mine is Blueprint Gaming's first ever Megaways slot and is basically their version of Bonanza. Therefore, the setup of the game doesn't come as a surprise to most gamers - you get the usual 6 reels + one extra horizontal reel. On each spin, the symbols on the reels can vary from 2 to 7 symbols high which can give you up to 117,649 win ways when fully expanded.
Turning our attention to the game’s visual side, the graphics within Diamond Mine are exactly what we’ve come to expect from the developer. These are crisp, clear and exceptionally entertaining. Set in the American wild west and with cartoon style graphics, the background depicts the entrance to the mine, while an arid landscape can be seen against clear blue skies. Cacti can also be seen one either side of the reels, providing quite the scene.
Then, on the six reels, you’ll find the slot’s different symbols. They begin with the playing card symbols of the green 9, red 10, aqua J, yellow Q, orange K and purple A. You’ll also see a symbol of a pickaxe and spade crossed over, a miner’s lantern and also the aforementioned bearded miner himself. Yet, it’s the symbol of the glistening diamond that acts as this game’s highest paying standard addition, multiplying your stake by up to 50 times your stake. The diamond sticks symbol is the wild, it only appears in the horizontal reel above reels 2 through to 5.
Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Features
Diamond Mine also incorporates a Mystery Symbol into its reels. This is present in the shape of the barrel with the letters “TNT” written on it. This one is able to show up on any reel, and when it does, it will transform into any of the other standard symbols, except for the slot’s scatter. Therefore, you can really benefit from multiple Mystery Symbols showing up across the screen.
As far as the scatter symbol is concerned, this comes in the shape of the bag of gold. Scatters have the ability to show up anywhere on the reels and will still reward you with a pay-out. However, you need to spin at least four of them into view in any location to activate the slot’s Free Spins function. You’ll be awarded with 12 Free Spins in total for every additional scatter on top of the triggering four, an extra five spins are given on top of the 12. Furthermore, during this feature round, there is an Unlimited Win Multiplier in operation. This multiplier starts at 1x and then increases with every Reaction. One final perk of this round is that the appearance of three scatters during it will add five more spins on to your total, while four will give you 10 extra Free Spins.
And speaking of the Reaction feature, this occurs whenever you form a win in the base game or the free spins round. Basically, every symbol that makes up part of a winning combination will disappear from the reels, leaving space for new symbols to fall into play. Should more wins form, the process takes place again. This continues until no additional wins can be created from a Reaction.
Diamond Mine Megaways (Blueprint Gaming): Verdict
We can’t give enough praise to the Diamond Mine slot game from Blueprint Gaming. Yes, it does feature the Megaways wins that occurs in several other slots from this developer. However, it was the first one release by the studio and still has a special place in the hearts of many gamers. Today, it might not stand out as much as it did when it first came out, but it definitely stands the test of time. In fact, it's better than most Bonanza clones being released today.
Overall, Diamond Mine is an excellent slot that offers a lot of value in terms of play time in spite of its relatively high volatility. It's not as explosive as their other Megaways offerings when it comes to the 10,000x max win. But then again, it's highly unlikely you're ever going to see a max win over 3,000x although, of course, there is a slim chance.
Diamond Mine is a competent clone of the original and one that comes very close of being just as great.
