Diamond Sands: Slot Overview
There is a stack of references to 'Golden Sands' around the world, from a seaside resort in Bulgaria to a resort in Penang to a hotel in Barbados. However, if gold just doesn't register high enough on the bling meter, take a look at Diamond Sands, an online slot from software provider Just For The Win. Diamond Sands is one of those worship of Mammon slots that pops up now and then, full of expensive consumer goods and loads of Instagram-envy scenery. On the gaming side of things, Diamond Sands packs in Money Symbols, a Diamond Wheel, and Sunset Free Spins with an increasing multiplier.
The game opens up on an influencer-friendly location, next to the sea at a swanky, exclusive-looking resort with beach umbrellas nestled next to palm trees. The sort of place where the sun shines most days of the year, outside of the monsoon season, the sea's warm, and patrons are here to be pampered. In short, the ideal spot to host a wealth-themed slot. The soundtrack pours on a relaxed, clubby vibe, and the scene is set. If you've ever played Mega Fortune Dreams before, then you'll know exactly what we're talking about.
Diamond Sands is played on a see-through game panel, constructed of 5-reels and 3-rows, supplying 243 ways to win. As long as at least three matching symbols land on consecutive reels, starting from the left-hand side, players collect some coins. Highly volatile, Just For The Win has designed three RTP models for Diamond Sands, the highest one being 96.08%. At this level, hit frequency comes in at 24.34% or 1 in 4.11 spins. Available on any device, bets range from 20 p/c to $/€50 per spin.
On to the pay symbols, beginning with four card suits - diamonds, clubs, hearts, and spades imprinted on the side of casino chips as the low pays, paying 4-5x the bet for a five-of-a-kind win. Next up are cocktails, cameras, watches, and bottles of bubbly, worth 12.5 to 30 times the stake for a five-of-a-kind winning way. There's no wild, but Diamond Sands has a few extra special symbols to examine.
Diamond Sands: Slot Features

One of those special symbols is the Money Symbol which land bearing prize values of 0.5 to 100x the bet. In the base game, when Money Symbols create winning ways, their values are awarded to the player.
Sunset Free Spins
Hitting 3 Sunset Free Spins scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 awards 10 free spins. The round has a five-level win multiplier – x1, x2, x3, x5, and x25. When Sunset Diamonds hit, they are collected, and every 4 collected triggers +5 extra spins at the higher multiplier level. Once the current round of free spins ends, the next unlocked batch can begin - keep in mind the multiplier is applied to Money Symbol prizes as well as regular ways wins. Free spins end when all unlocked levels have run out.
In addition, a Collect symbol is used in free spins, appearing on the rightmost reel. When a Collect symbol lands while Money Symbols are in view, their values are awarded. Free spins have a frequency of 1 in 238 of occurring.
Diamond Wheel
Random symbols in the base game may land with small star icons overlaid on them. These stars zoom to the Diamond Wheel when they hit. Each time they zoom over like this, there is a chance the Diamond Wheel feature activates, spinning to award the Big, Major, Mega, or Diamond jackpot prize worth 20x, 50x, 250x, or 5,000x the bet, respectively. The Diamond Wheel has a trigger frequency of 1 in 376 spins.

Diamond Sands: Slot Verdict
At a glance, if you're not into the cash money, bling-bling slot theme, it might be easy to be repelled by Diamond Sands. Not that there's anything especially gauche here which can't be found in other games in this category, but you might need sunglasses to bathe in the glow of all the rich stuff. However, if players are okay with the wealth angle, or they're into the 'finer things in life', then there are aspects of Diamond Sands which might pull them in for closer inspection.
It might take some time to discover them because, at a quick look, Diamond Sands might appear to be just another money symbol, Fishin' Frenzy style game, and parts of it are, but it's not quite so straightforward. For one, Money Symbols are won in the base game when they form winning ways. Not a major shakeup, yet doing things this way presents something slightly different to mull over. Trigger free spins, and Diamond Sands shifts back to scoring Money Symbols when the Collect symbol simultaneously hits. Collecting Sunset Diamonds to increment the multiplier in the bonus round can be fun, and whilst we never made it as far as the x25, doing so could be interesting. Potential is pretty decent as well, not as cashed up as the rest of the game is trying to portray itself as, though 5,000x the bet isn't anything to be sniffed at. This is the game's win cap, too, not just the top prize on the Diamond Wheel.
If you can burrow beneath Diamond Sands' glitzy outer cover, there are one or two interesting discoveries to uncover. However, the theme is one of those like-it-or-you-don't things, and the features aren't astonishing, so it wouldn't be a major surprise to see this one fly beneath the radar.
Though well built, Diamond Sands is a bit too generic to be terribly appealing.
