This makes Duck Hunters Happy Hour feel less like a sequel and closer to a director's cut, as it offers round two on the explosive multiplier mechanics seen in the previous release.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it may disappoint players who had been hoping for greater originality. Duck Hunters Happy Hour still delivers the same kind of progressive chaos which made the previous one so memorable. Position multipliers spiralling out of control, Infectious xWays invading the screen, and Bombs detonating across the grid are equally capable of creating moments of genuine exhilaration, in classic Nolimit City fashion. One of the key changes is the Bomb, which now reveals a new symbol, possibly another Bomb, rather than just exploding; that is admittedly a neat touch. Statistically, at 33,333x the bet, Duck Hunters Happy Hour offers greater winning potential, while keeping in mind it is less likely to hit the max win, and less likely to trigger the bonus round than before.

Duck Hunters Happy Hour is a good game, no doubt, but kind of weird too, being closer to Duck Hunters 1.2 than a full-blown sequel. Fans of the original should find plenty to like, while newcomers get a wild entry into Nolimit City's version of Sugar Rush. Maybe don't come expecting the rule book to be torn up and discarded, as Duck Hunters Happy Hour seems happy enough hammering down on what already worked.
