Epic Joker Introduction
Ok, so our header might have been a bit harsh, nonetheless we can't help to feel the title is a bit of a ridiculous statement for a simple fruit machine with little to no potential. Relax Gaming, for those of you who don't know, is a service provider offering a platform (Silver Bullet) through which both Quickspin and Push Gaming release their games. Interestingly, Relax Gaming recently signed a deal with Big Time Gaming which will allow them to incorporate MegaWays mechanics into their content, something that is not unlikely to extend to Quickspin and Push Gaming further down the road as well if we're allowed to speculate (but really we don't know).
Relax Gaming is not only a service provider, they're also into creating slots of their own, something they haven't had much success with in all honesty, although something definitely seems to be brewing over there. Epic Joker, which we're reviewing here today, is a fruit machine that juggles elements of classic 3x3 action with a bit of a futuristic twist to it. It's not a great game we can say right away, but since we haven't covered Relax Gaming before let this serve as an introduction. Besides, following the MegaWays partnership, it's not unlikely that we will see persistent growth for this up-and-comer.
Epic Joker is a 3 by 3 fruit machine with 5 fixed paylines that comes with wild re-spins and super mode free spins. The setup may be simple, but there is a lustrous touch to it. If you're into 80s type video game music, you may, in fact, find the soundtrack the best part of this slot.
Epic Joker Paytable & Symbols
Both low-rollers and high-rollers will feel welcome here as it's playable from as little as €0.05 per spin up to €200. As you already know, we're not fans of slot developers who try to confuse us with coin values, partly because we get a headache having to activate the mathematical section of our brains, but also because we feel it deceitful. Kudos to Relax Gaming for giving us a straightforward paytable where values are displayed relative to the current stake.
As you can see in the image above, one line of the top paying symbol, which is the Joker wild, will give you 100 times the stake. Other symbols on the reels include cherries, bars, plums, lucky sevens, oranges and stars.
Epic Joker Features
Epic Joker comes with 2 features - the wild re-spin and Super Mode free spins. The re-spin feature is activated when a full stack of Joker wilds land on the reels. It will then be held in place while the remaining reels spin. Should you land another stack, the whole process will repeat itself. This is your best opportunity at landing a full screen of wilds and the maximum jackpot prize of 500 times the stake.
The other feature is the Super Mode free spins. If you land a full screen of any symbol, 5 free spins will be rewarded. These are basically the same as any other spin, although it's possible that the reels are enhanced with more high-value symbols. It's also possible to re-trigger the free spins mode to give you 10 free spins in total.
Epic Joker Conclusion
If fruit machines are your thing, Epic Joker might be worth a try. Otherwise, we can't really give you any good reasons to play it. Besides, there are far better fruit machines than this, such as MultiFruit 81 by Play'n Go (maybe not so traditional), Mega Joker (NetEnt) and Power Stars (Novomatic).
On the positive side, the 97% RTP is quite generous, and it can possibly turn out to be a fun high stakes machine for high rollers. On the negative side, however, we feel that the maximum potential of 500x is far too low for us to get any real excitement out of playing it.
