Galactic Invaders: Slot Overview
Don't look up; the aliens are coming, and they aren't the friendly sort here to ascend humanity to a higher level by bestowing advanced knowledge or sharing technological marvels on us beyond our wildest dreams. These squishy, tentacled extraterrestrials have come to take the joint over like humans stomping away ants or orangutans from a desirable piece of land to get at the precious resources it contains. The occasion is Galactic Invaders, an online slot from Games Global partner Pear Fiction Studios, which bears close resemblance to the developer's slot Blazing Mammoth XL.
Artistically, Galactic Invaders also bears close resemblance to a number of Pear Fiction Studios slots. It has the bold, cartoon, brightly coloured look found in games like Granny vs Zombies, Chicken Night Fever, and Blazing Piranhas, to name three. The high quality presentation undoubtedly stands out and using this style gives Galactic Invaders a fun B-movie feel, where you know the aliens are here to invade, but in a humorous way rather than a fearsome one. This light-heartedness is the sort of thing fans of Pear Fiction Studios are probably here to see, and Galactic Invaders' visuals pop as well as any of the studio's earlier releases.
Galactic Invaders' 5x3 grid is where the gaming activity occurs, and a meter up the top displays how many ways to win are currently available. The default is 243, but when the splitting feature comes into play, up to 7,776 ways to win are possible. The game's bet limits are 20 c to $/€50 per spin, and the math model is a highly volatile one. On the default setting, Galactic Invaders' default RTP comes in at 96%, along with a hit rate of 30.5%.
Tentacled J to A card ranks are Galactic Invaders' low pay symbols, paying out 1 times the bet when 5 matching royals hit, while the high pays are 4 character symbols, awarding 2 to 10 times the bet when 5 OAK hit. Helping connect winning combinations is the UFO wild symbol. Wilds substitute for all symbols except scatters or Alien SwiftHits symbols. In the base game, when a win includes a wild multiplier, the multiplier is applied to the current way win.
Galactic Invaders: Slot Features
The features in Galactic Invaders are very close to those found in Blazing Mammoth XL and include Instant Alien Jackpot SwiftHits, several SwiftHits symbols, and free spins with a win multiplier.
Instant Alien Jackpot SwiftHits
Landing at least 3 Alien SwiftHits symbols awards a cash prize. When 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 Alien SwiftHits are in view, players win 1x, 2x, 5x, 15x, 40x, 60x, 100x, 500x, 1,000x, 5,000x the bet. There are 3 kinds of SwiftHits symbols - regular, Respin, and Split.
- Respin Alien SwiftHits - when a Respin Alien SwiftHits symbol lands, the symbol locks in place, and the specific reel spins again, landing new symbols.
- Split Alien SwiftHits - when a Split Alien SwiftHits symbol lands, up to 3 additional symbols are added to the reel. One reel can split up to a max of 6 symbols.
Free Spins
Free spins scatter symbols appear on reels 2, 3, and 4. Landing 3 scatters triggers a spin on the Free Spin Wheel. From the wheel, players can win 8 to 15 free spins and a multiplier of x2 to x8. The multiplier is applied to all wins within free spins except Instant Alien SwiftHits Jackpots. When a win in free spins includes a wild multiplier, the multiplier is increased by the value on the wild. Free spins can be retriggered with the initially granted number of free spins.
Galactic Invaders: Slot Verdict
As far as alien visitations go, they do happen every now and then in the slot world. Not like on a super regular basis, but they happen, and past occurrences have included games such as Invading Vegas, Invaders Megaways, Beach Invaders, and Octopus Armada, showcasing both their relative popularity and the proclivity to depict invasions. Perhaps slot makers have got it all wrong, though, and aliens are already here, not to invade, but to study us, help us, or even just sightsee on planet Earth for recreation (and lols) as if humanity is one big open zoo for extraterrestrials to visit like seeing cows in a petting zoo. As author Arthur C. Clarke put it, '…either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.'
Maybe benign aliens just don't provide as much drama compared to those who want to take our planet from us. Alien invasions do make for amusing viewing, and Galactic Invaders is amusing stuff. However, it might have been more amusing if the gameplay hadn't been so close to Blazing Mammoth XL. The only real mechanical difference is that multipliers are available in the base game and not just free spins (plus there is no feature buy). Not a biggie, but a nice thing to have all the same. The inclusion of base game multipliers hasn't had an effect on the max win, which is the same at 5,000x the bet. BTW, this is the value of the top Instant Alien Jackpot SwiftHits prize, which is not boosted by multipliers in either phase of play.
One nice thing about Pear Fiction Studios is they've really found their voice and are creating games that look distinctly theirs. Galactic Invaders is a prime example. It wouldn't be the worst thing ever if they choose to get more experimental with the gameplay, however, as the number of SwiftHits/Epic Strike-style slots isn't running low. Still, when seen from a positive angle, fans of this sort of 9 Masks thing get another dose to choke back.
Good
Galactic Invaders is a well presented slot that looks great and is fun to play, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever if the studio choose to get more experimental with the gameplay.
