It's a clever system in theory because it gives the base game a sense of long-term progression rather than making every spin feel isolated. Even when nothing particularly exciting happens, there is at least the feeling that you're working towards unlocking stronger mechanics later on.

In today's market, that's not particularly exciting for a high-volatility slot, especially when so many competitors are pushing five-figure win caps as standard.
None of this makes Ginger Wins Wild Jungle a bad game. In fact, it's perfectly competent from start to finish. The issue is that competence isn't normally what people come to Peter & Sons for.
