HANZO’S DOJO is the ultimate training ground for the fiercest of fighters from the Land of the Rising Sun

  • Expanding Wilds, Hanzo Spins & Free Spins Booster

  • 3000x + potential

Main game

Yggdrasil Gaming has been aiming to release new slots at a rate of one per month, and so far they’re sticking to the timetable. The games do look better than ever and the company is undeniably at the helm of innovation as far as entertainment is concerned. But there’s one very important aspect that doesn’t seem to keep up with the rest of the progress, and that is the payouts.

Massive Yggdrasil big win screenshots and videos appear to be rarer than they should be, and the RTP recorded by the Slot Tracker speaks for itself, listing Yggdrasil as one of the worst performing game developers in the industry.

Hanzo’s Dojo Introduction

Set amongst grasslands, majestic mountains and cherry blossoms blowing gently in the breeze, the slot centers around Hanzo and his Dojo where he trains warriors in the field of martial arts.

Hanzo’s Dojo is a 5×3 Video Slot with 25 paylines and an additional 3×1 Rooftop Slot. It’s playable on all devices from €0.10 – €125 and comes with a 96.1% RTP. The game features an additional Rooftop Slot, 2 Free Spin modes, and 5 Free Spin boosters.

Hanzo’s Dojo Symbols

Premium symbols

The game includes 8 regular symbols (4 low paying and 4 premiums) and a wild that win if three or more are lined up in sequence on a payline, beginning from the leftmost position. The most valuable – the Hanzo symbol – is worth 9,4x for 5 on a payline.

On top of the reel set is another, smaller, 3×1 reel set – the Rooftop Slot. Players can trigger additional Free Spin Boosters and modes in the Rooftop Slot. There are 4 different symbols that players can land:

  • The Hanzo Symbol
  • The Expanding Wild
  • Free Spin Symbol

Hanzo’s Dojo Rooftop Slot Features

The Hanzo Symbol

  • Landing 3 Hanzo Symbols (can be substituted by wilds) awards 3 Hanzo Spins
  • The Hanzo Symbol reveals a random regular symbol which becomes the 3×3 symbol locked in the center reels for the entire Hanzo Spin session
  • Hanzo Symbols are only available in the base game

The Expanding Wild

Individual expanding wilds in action
  • Landing 3 Expanding Wilds awards 3 Hanzo Spins with a 3×3 wild symbol locked in the center reels
  • Individual Expanding Wilds that land, expand down into the reel below, turning that reel into a wild reel
  • Expanding Wilds can substitute Hanzo Symbols in the 3×1 Rooftop Slot

Free Spin Symbol

  • Functions as a Free Spin symbol but awards additional boosters
  • Landing any combination of 3+ Free Spin symbols awards a Free Spin mode (Free Spin symbols from the 5×3 reels and Rooftop Slot count)
  • Each Rooftop Slot Free Spin symbol awards 1 additional Free Spin + 1 Free Spin Feature (both when triggering Free Spins and while in Free Spins)

Hanzo Spins

  • Landing any combination of 3 Hanzo Symbols and/or expanding wilds in the Rooftop Slot awards 3 Hanzo Spins
  • The Hanzo Symbol reveals a regular symbol that turns into a fixed 3×3 symbol on the center reels for the entire Hanzo Spin session
  • If the Hanzo Spins were triggered with 3 expanding wilds then the 3×3 symbol is a wild
  • The only available symbols in the Rooftop Slot are the blank symbol and Free Spin symbol
  • Hanzo Spins are played with the same coin value and lines as the activating spin

Free Spins

Free spins with 3×3 center symbols
  • Landing any combination of 3+ Free Spin symbols awards a Free Spin mode; Rooftop Slot Free Spin symbols award 4 Free Spins and 1 feature each; 5×3 reel Free Spin symbols award 3 Free Spins each. For example, landing 2 regular Free Spin symbols and 2 Rooftop Slot Free Spin symbols would award: 3+3+4+4= 14 Free Spins + 2 Free Spin Boosters
  • The 3 center reels spin 3×3 symbols
  • The only available symbols in the Rooftop Slot are the blank symbol and Free Spin symbol
  • Free Spins are played with the same coin value and lines as the activating spin

Free Spin Boosters

Free spin boosters

There are 5 different Free Spin Boosters that can be activated by landing Free Spin symbols in the Rooftop Slot.

  • +2 Free Spins – can be awarded multiple times in a single Free Spin round
  • x2 multiplier – regardless of when landed, is applied to the entire Free Spin round (can only be activated once each Free Spin round)
  • Wild 5th Reel – all positions on the 5th reel become wild (can only be activated once each Free Spin session but lasts for the Free Spin session)
  • Win both ways – lines pay from the far left and far right (can only be activated once each Free Spin session but lasts for the remaining rounds once activated)
  • 3×3 symbol nudge – the center 3×3 symbol can be moved by up to 3 reel positions to give the best outcome (can only be activated once each Free Spin session but lasts for the remaining rounds once activated. Only available in regular Free Spins)

Conclusion

This slot was a bit of a mess trying to summarise in a review having so many separate features but is actually much easier to understand once you get to try it yourself. What you want is to trigger the Hanzo spins or the free spins and then land a scatter symbol on the 3×1 reel set (Rooftop) to add some nice boosters to your feature, preferably the x2 multiplier in combination with other boosters.

This is an entertaining and action-packed slot for sure. The boosters allow for unique setups in individual bonuses which definitely adds value to the game. The best way we can describe this slot in terms of gameplay and functionality is like a mix of two other Yggdrasil productions – Nirvana and Lucha Maniacs. Don’t expect any super massive wins however as it is a medium volatile slot with a relatively low 3000x max win. Fun as it is, being Yggdrasil it remains to see if it actually pays.

Hanzo’s Dojo is due for release on August 23 and will be available across all Yggdrasil Gaming casinos.
