Hunt The Bucks Slot (Mini Review)

Hunt the Bucks is a Belatra Games slot built around a familiar collection mechanic formula, this time shifting the action from fishing docks to deep forest hunting grounds. It runs on a standard winline setup with high volatility, a 96.72% RTP, and a maximum win of 5,000x the bet. If you've played the Big Bass-style collection games before, the overall structure will immediately feel recognizable: special symbols land with cash values, the Hunter collects them, and free spins revolve around escalating multipliers.

The setting is one of the game's stronger points. Instead of generic wilderness imagery, Belatra gives the forest environment a bit more atmosphere, with dense trees, soft lighting, hunting equipment, and a surprisingly expressive Hunter character accompanied by his dog. The visuals are polished without becoming overdesigned, and the Dropping Coin mechanic is integrated nicely into the presentation, with coins physically descending down the reels while increasing in value.

The core gameplay revolves around Animal symbols carrying instant cash values ranging from x2 up to x1,000 the bet. When the Hunter-Wild lands, he collects all visible Animal and Coin values simultaneously. Multiple Hunters on the same spin each trigger their own collection, which can create some decent base game moments when the reels are stacked with high-value symbols.

The game's biggest mechanical difference comes from the Dropping Coin system. Coin symbols begin at x10 and increase in value as they move downward across the reels, eventually reaching x100 if they survive to the bottom. During free spins, these coins descend gradually over multiple spins instead of instantly dropping, meaning they can remain active on the reels while waiting for a Hunter to collect them later. It's not revolutionary, but it gives the base game and bonus rounds a more active feeling than most collection slots in this category.

The Lucky Dog feature also adds a bit of variety. At random points, the Hunter calls his dog, which fetches additional Animal symbols onto the reels that can then be collected if the Hunter lands. There's even a separate x20 feature buy built specifically around this mechanic.

Free spins start with 10 spins from 3 scatters and revolve around the Booster chain above the reels. Every Hunter collected fills the Booster panel, gradually unlocking stronger multiplier stages ranging from x2 up to x100. The first stages require several Hunters to progress, while the later stages accelerate quickly, creating a decent sense of momentum if a session goes deep enough into the chain. Hot Mode, triggered by 5 scatters, skips part of the buildup by preloading the early multipliers immediately.

The biggest issue is simply how copy paste the entire structure feels. Even with the Dropping Coin mechanic and the Booster pacing tweaks, this is still operating very close to the Big Bass template. Players already burned out on collector-style fishing slots will probably feel that fatigue almost immediately here as well. The 5,000x ceiling also feels modest compared to many modern high-volatility releases.

Still, the game executes the formula alright. The RTP is stronger than most comparable slots, the feature buy menu is more flexible than usual with x20 and x50 mini-features, and the Dropping Coin system genuinely improves the pacing of the gameplay loop. Hunt the Bucks doesn't reinvent this style of slot, but it's an ok alternative for those without access to Pragmatic's catalogue.
