Immortal Romance Vein of Gold: Slot Overview
Back when they were known as Microgaming, and some might say still relevant, software provider Games Global released what would become one of the gold-standard vampire slots on the market in the form of Immortal Romance. What could have ended up a cheesy Twilight on the reels event turned out to be a gripping tale of vampiric romance. Many moons later, partner Stormcraft Studios crafted Immortal Romance 2, which, while decent enough, failed to fully recapture the magic that made the original so special. If, at first, you don't succeed, then try, try again, and Stormcraft Studios has returned to the loved-up undead to design Immortal Romance Vein of Gold.
The four characters from IR2 make a return appearance for Immortal Romance Vein of Gold, though much actual romance is a little lacking. That could be a good or bad thing. A blazing red background has been placed to spruce up the base game, switching to yellow tones for the Vein of Gold bonus and purple colourations during free spins. The presentation is okay, but nothing special, a foreshadowing of the game to come.

A golden-framed 6x4 grid is Immortal Romance Vein of Gold's active gaming area. It uses a ways system to create winning combinations, and there are 4,096 of them. The game is highly volatile, and it comes with three RTP configurations, the highest of which is 96%. Players may wager 20 c to $/€50 per spin and buy bonus round entrance if they'd like.
Blood red J-A card ranks are followed by a fountain, a gate, a book, and 4 character symbols as Immortal Romance Vein of Gold's pay symbols. The Jack to gate symbols are worth 1 to 1.4 times the bet for 6-of-a-kind, while the rest pay 2 to 5 times the bet when landing 6 OAK. Wilds appear on all reels except the leftmost in the base game and all reels 2, 3, and 4 in free spins. Wilds substitute all symbols except scatters, Cash, or Collect.
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold: Slot Features

There is a lot of text in this section, and the features boil down to a Collect feature, respins, Jackpot prizes, a Bonus Multiplier, a couple of bonus rounds, and bonus buys.
Collect Feature & Respins
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold has Collect symbols and Cash symbols. Collect symbols land on the leftmost and rightmost reel, and when they hit alongside Cash symbols, the values from all Cash symbols are awarded. Landing a Collect symbol but no Cash symbols or a bonus trigger awards 1 respin. The leftmost and rightmost reels lock while reels 2-4 respin to land Cash symbols or blank positions. At least one Cash symbol is guaranteed to land.
Rising Rewards Jackpot
Landing a Cash symbol without Collect symbols accumulates tokens in the base game. When tokens are accumulated, they increase at least one Jackpot value. Collecting tokens also grants a chance of triggering the Jackpot feature in the base game, where it is possible to win Cash prizes and Jackpots - at least one Jackpot is awarded. The Jackpot values are 5x-25x for the Mini, 10x-50x for the Minor, 100x-250x for the Major, and 1,000x-2,500x for the Mega.
Rising Rewards Multiplier
The Bonus Multiplier is displayed in a meter, and it can be increased in the base game. This multiplier applies to all wins in the free spins and Vein of Gold rounds. Its value increases by 0.5x when 2 scatters land in the base game without triggering the Bonus Choice - up to a maximum of x5. It resets to x1 after free spins or Vein of Gold is complete, but it may randomly increase by 0.5x to 1x when returning to the base game.
Bonus Features
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters awards 8 free spins or 2 Vein of Gold spins, 12 free spins or 3 Vein of Gold spins, 20 free spins or 5 Vein of Gold spins, or 30 free spins or 7 Vein of Gold spins, respectively. Players choose either free spins or Vein of Gold spins when triggered.
- Free Spins - An x2, x3, or x5 multiplier is randomly awarded for each wild in a winning way. Each wild multiplier multiplies the win on that way, and the Bonus Multiplier multiplies the total win of each spin. Retriggering the feature occurs when 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatter hits to award +5, +8, +12, +20 or +30 free spins, respectively. Oddly, the 4 highest-paying symbols do not appear in free spins.
- Vein of Gold - During this feature, regular pay symbols do not land, but a Collect symbol is guaranteed to hit on every spin to collect any Cash symbols, and each spin guarantees a win. Collect Retrigger symbols and Retrigger symbols are also present on the reels. The Collect Retrigger awards all Cash symbols and awards +1 spin, while the Retrigger symbol awards +1 free spin only. Cash symbols of up to 100x the bet may land during the feature, and the Bonus Multiplier multipliers the total win of each spin.
Feature Buy
Players are able to buy instant access to the Bonus Choice triggered by 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters, costing 30x, 50x, 80x, or 120x the bet, respectively.

Immortal Romance Vein of Gold: Slot Verdict
It's fairly safe to say that if Immortal Romance 2 didn't get your blood pumping, neither will Immortal Romance Vein of Gold. Games Global and its buddies have been making these sorts of slots for years now, and it shows. Despite possessing impeccable slot pedigree, Immortal Romance Vein of Gold is a run-of-the-mill Cash collect game with Jackpots and a couple of bonus rounds tacked on. It seems to be a common formula. For example, a similarly featured slot from Fortune Factory Studios called Mask of Amun was reviewed mid-ish 2022, and Immortal Romance Vein of Gold hasn't really progressed much, if anything, since then.
In other words, collecting Cash symbols and tokens keeps the base game chugging along as users keep their fingers crossed enough scatters land to instigate the Bonus Choice. Tough choice? Maybe. Vein of Gold spins might match players who can't get enough collecting in their lives; free spins drop wild multipliers to boost wins. Both benefit from the Bonus Multiplier, which can be grown in the base game, and Jackpot values are displayed as a motivator throughout. Jackpots must be grown in the main game to reach their full, if limited, potential, which is a requirement that may delight some gamblers as much as it repels others. Grown to full capacity or not, the Mega Jackpot isn't enormous, though Immortal Romance Vein of Gold's full winning potential of 5,500x is preferable to being drained of fluids by a Nosferatu type.
Still, it's hard not to feel like Immortal Romance Vein of Gold is a bit of a waste of the Immortal Romance IP, used as it is as a vehicle for a bunch of regular, arguably overdone features. Ah well, the Games Global crew does like these sorts of extras, so here's another one like-minded enthusiasts might want to sink their fangs into.
Immortal Romance Vein of Gold feels like a missed opportunity, offering little beyond standard features and recycled ideas from previous slots.
