Compared to newer releases pushing stronger visuals or more distinctive identities, Marlin Masters OG feels safe and predictable.
The main mechanic revolves around Marlin symbols carrying cash values from 0.5x up to 1,000x the bet. These can either form their own winning paylines or be collected by Fisherman symbols. Fishermen can also land with multipliers ranging from x1 to x20, boosting the value of every collected Marlin. As with many Hacksaw releases, the biggest moments come from lining up valuable Marlins with high-multiplier collectors rather than from traditional line wins.
Free spins are triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters, each unlocking a different version of the bonus. During the feature, Fisherman symbols fill a progress bar, with every fourth Fisherman unlocking a new level. These upgrades improve future Fishermen by increasing their minimum multiplier values and award additional spins along the way. However, Marlin Masters OG feels more like an unnecessary revision than a meaningful new release. If you enjoyed the original, you'll probably enjoy this too. If you were hoping for new ideas, additional depth, or a reason to choose it over the 2025 version, there's very little here that justifies the revisit.
