Mighty Stallion Hold & Win: Slot Overview
Developer iSoftBet add to their growing Hold & Win range with a North American themed slot based around the romantic figure of the stallion. Not just any stallion, this one appears in flames. Why? It’s not explained why, however, fire and the sun are prominent motifs throughout the game. Another element sticking out like a sore thumb is the overall Wolf Gold vibe permeating much of Mighty Stallion. The leading beast might have changed, but the feel and features retain a link.
When you hear North American slot, the setting can only be one place. Home on the range where the deer and the antelope play, as the song goes. Blazing up the sky behind the 5-reel, 20-payline game area is one intense sunset or sunrise, that’s a tad more photorealistic than you usually find in these games. Clouds drift by, as does smoke or fireflies, while a The Good, the Bad and the Ugly type of soundtrack plays its stately tune in the background. Up above, we get a hit of the mystical this part of this world is also known for, primarily though the Native Americans. The game doesn’t star any as such, but a purple sky adds a touch of magic, lit up by a thousand stars like a sea of rhinestones.
At the time of review, not many official stats were available, so players should expect an RTP in the region of 95%-96%, give or take, as well as a medium/high volatility. Other Hold & Win slots seem to follow a similar setup. Where Mighty Stallion differs a bit is its free spins can be pretty exciting due to the possibility of scoring massive multipliers. We’ll get to that in a bit. For now, players mount the pony by selecting bets from 20 p/c to £/€20 per spin – on any device.
The symbols help give Mighty Stallion a physical slot feel, particularly the 9-A royals making up the lower end of the paytable. From there, we get skulls, flaming gold bars, eagles, rock formations, and dollar signs. The symbols are quite attractive, the premiums at least, which are worth 4 to 12.5 times the bet for five of a kind wins. The land-based vibe is reinforced when symbols land and when they form wins. Helping that happen is the flaming stallion wild symbol. This one lands in 1x1 size to replace any symbol except Mighty Stallion Scatters or Cash Fireballs to form winning combinations.
Mighty Stallion Hold & Win: Slot Features
Mighty Stallion offers players two bonus games, free spins plus Hold & Win Respins, as well as Mighty Stallion Wild Spins. None are overly original, but players into these sorts of extras won’t be disappointed.
Randomly, on any spin, colossal Wild Stallion symbols may come through, announced by a flaming frame around the reels. These symbols are always 3 rows high and can be 2, 3, 4, or 5 reels wide, fully or partially in view. More than one may land as well. When they do, they produce a bunch of 1x1 size wilds.
The feature in the title, Hold & Win Respins, is triggered by the Cash Fireball symbols which display various cash values - 5 or more in view trigger the feature and are held in place while all other positions fade away. With only Cash Fireball symbols in play, the round now starts with 3 respins which are reset when new Cash Fireballs land. The game ends when there are no more respins left, or all 15 positions on the grid are filled. Then, the total of all Cash Fireballs is awarded. If the grid is filled, the Grand Award of 1,000 times the bet is won.
The next feature is free spins, which may or may not be the main event depending on your preference. It comes into play when 3 or more scatter symbols land on the reels, awarding 10 free spins in the process as well as a payout of 2x, 10x, or 100x the bet for 3, 4, 5 respectively.
During free spin, a special wild Multiplier Coin enters the game. It may appear on reels 2 & 4, and always lands stacked when it does. If it can be used in a win, it will spin to reveal a multiplier of x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10. Each coin in a stack displays the same value. Both reels may have Wild Multipliers on them. In this case, their values are multiplied together for a max of x100. Landing 3 or more Mighty Stallion Scatters during Free Spins awards 5 more.
Mighty Stallion Hold & Win: Slot Verdict
Mighty Stallion is one of those games custom made to satisfy a certain segment of the market. It’s not exactly a segment that is crying out for more games though since there is a stack of these North American wilderness set pieces. Something about the scenery, the animals, or the sunset, strikes a chord amongst players leading to regular updates. As far as these types of games go though, Mighty Stallion is as good as any other and better than most. Fans owe it to themselves to give this flaming horse a spin or two.
It starts with graphics where iSoftBet has successfully revived the old fashioned look popular in this genre (a la Wolf Gold), matching them to modern high-definition background effects. It’s as stunning to look at as practically any Western Wilderness game. That’s not to say its cutting edge as such, shoot pardner, nothing about Mighty Stallion is cutting edge, but it is a solid example.
Then again, Mighty Stallion’s round of free spins may surprise. Wild multipliers are the key here, and two maxed reels along with the dollar sign premium can technically produce a 1,250x the bet for a five of a kind win. Even the Hold & Win section can cough up some big Cash Fireball wins, though getting over 30x from a single one of them was about as high as they went during testing. Potential is there though.
To sum up, Mighty Stallion has got more than enough good stuff going on to entertain the chaps off fans of this genre. Even those saddle sore from an abundance of US nature slots might find some joy in the features.
Mighty Stallion might be more than a little unoriginal, but for this style of gaming, it hardly gets any better.
