Money Plane: Slot Overview

Step one when playing Money Plane is choosing your desired volatility level. This can be altered at any time between game rounds, so don't feel you're locked into anything. What's cool is that each of the five levels takes players through the popular Money Train series, from Western, steampunk, futuristic, off-world, before getting a tantalising glimpse of how Money Train 5 might look when selecting the highest level - a mining operation on a Mars type deal. Trains play an integral role, too, acting as both the take off and landing point. The plane is the star of the show, though, and hitting spin sends it on a Bouncemasters-type journey, rebounding off various items littered in its flight path.

When picking the volatility level, keep in mind that each level caps the maximum bet, as well as offering a different max win of 250x to 10,000x the bet. The minimum stake is $/€0.10 in all cases, and the RTP is 97% no matter the level.

The plane starts each run with a 1x. As it flies, it can bump into Bombs, Number Icons, and powerups. Bombs cut the current multiplier in half. When the charger is active, each time the plane hits an object in flight, the charger increases by +1. The charger is full when 4 objects are hit. From that point, any collected power-ups will be activated. After activation, the charger is reset to zero and can start charging again by hitting objects. Power-ups activate in this order:

• Necromancer - One rocket on the screen is transformed into a value icon or multiplier icon.
• Payer - One value icon or multiplier icon closest to the plane is increased.
• Sniper - One value icon or multiplier icon closest to the plane is doubled.
• Collector - One value icon or multiplier icon closest to the plane is collected.

Frequent Flyer

Depending on the chosen stage, players can collect a certain number of objects to gain access to Golden Editions of each plane. Objects include Number Icons, Multiplier Icons, and power-ups. Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 require 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 collected objects, respectively. When unlocked, players can choose the standard or gold plane, though the colour and design of the plane have no effect on the game events or payouts.

Money Plane: Slot Verdict

As mentioned, Money Plane is a sort of Aviator spin-off, but it's a version with less user intervention. In this game, players hit spin, then sit back and enjoy how the round plays out. There is no need to hit the cash out button before the plane crashes in order to collect winnings, which takes a lot of the pressure off. There is no kicking yourself for cashing out early on a plane that eventually runs and runs, nor any bad feelings about holding on for too long and seeing a tidy sum of winnings go to waste. In that sense, Money Plane is a more relaxing game to play. It's also a much nicer one to look at than just a line going upwards. Relax Gaming has designed five different environments, one for each of the different levels, making it a lot more visually interesting, while injecting bags of extra character due to the neat Money Train references.

Still, Money Plane can be a turbulent ride, very often ending up with a plane missing the landing train, all smashed up on the ground. The plane can even land on the train, then fall off, taking with it all of the collected winnings. The highest level, in particular, could be merciless. All or nothing felt like it was the play. The lowest level was more forgiving, though the winning potential is much lower as a compensator. Perhaps the thing for curious gamblers to do is demo the different levels in order to find their individual sweet spot. Since Money Plane is so different, it may take time to form a definitive opinion on it, yet it feels like one of those games that some players may really take to, while others will have absolutely no interest whatsoever.

Either way, it is nice to see a studio branch out and experiment with unusual ideas. Adrenaline junkies might miss the thrills provided by having a cash-out button, and traditional slot enthusiasts looking for spinning reels are out. But Money Plane is an innovative Aviator alternative which sends players on an emotion-spiked journey that may end up chewing dust, touching the clouds, or somewhere in between.
