Monopoly Money Magnate: Slot Overview

Any idea how much a Monopoly licence costs these days? It can't be cheap, which would explain why software providers Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and NetEnt have been hammering the daylights out of their license with a beat stick. Red Tiger has gone and added another one to its portfolio, titled Monopoly Money Magnate. A lofty title for a Monopoly slot which feels better suited to low-key gamblers with a soft spot for the board game, on account of its conventional features and muted potential. If that's not a deal breaker, then feel free to roll the dice and see where we land.

The action takes place on Park Lane, which Monopoly fans will no doubt know, is the second most expensive street in the UK version of Monopoly. The only street that costs more is Mayfair, the land of hedge funds and private equity firms. Park Lane is fancy too, of course, and Red Tiger has plastered a pleasant slice of it on the screen for players' enjoyment. A swanky building, ye olde lamps, and a bit of greenery attest to this part of London's desirability. Monopoly Money Magnate is not very Monopoly-ish to start with, but don't worry, Mr Monopoly, Chance, and streets are on their way.

Monopoly Money Magnate's game board is a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 10 paylines. It has a medium-high volatile math model and when betting $/€0.20 to $/€100 per spin, the RTP is 96.13%, though three lower return models are also possible.

The lower value symbols on the paytable are 10-A card ranks, awarding 7.5x to 10x when landing a five-of-a-kind winning combination. The higher pays are banknotes, coins, gems, and bank symbols, where five-of-a-kind awards 25x to 250x. Wilds substitute all paying symbols, and also pay 250x when 5 wilds make a win on their own.

Monopoly Money Magnate: Slot Features

Monopoly Money Magnate's extras are Monopoly Money Collection, a progress element, Chance symbols, a pair of bonus rounds, and feature buys.

Monopoly Money Collection

Monopoly Money symbols land on reels 1-4. They hold a monetary prize depending on their colour from 0.5x to 50x the stake. Mr Monopoly is a 1x3 super symbol that may land fully visible on the rightmost reel. Mr Monopoly collects any Monopoly Money symbols that land on the same spin as he does.

Progress

Scottie is a progress symbol that may land on the rightmost reel. There are two progress levels. The first level is complete when 20 progress symbols are collected. After this, Mr Monopoly will stick to the reel for one more spin after collecting any Monopoly Money symbols, and will remain locked on subsequent spins as long as Monopoly Money symbols land. The second progress level is completed by collecting another 20 progress symbols. When this occurs, Mr Monopoly receives an increasing multiplier. After collecting any Monopoly Money prizes, Mr Monopoly's multiplier increases by +1 for the future spins until he leaves the reels.

Chance Symbol

The Chance symbol may land on the leftmost reel in the base game. When Chance and Mr Monopoly land together, a Chance Card draw is made, randomly revealing one of the following:

  • Bank Pays You Dividend - Any Monopoly Money symbols in view increase their prize by 50% their base value.
  • Bank Error - Any Monopoly Money symbols in view, except Dark Orange Banknotes, are swapped for the next higher paying banknote. If there are only Dark Orange Banknotes in view, this card cannot be revealed.
  • Income Tax Refund - Monopoly Money symbols are added to random positions.
  • Get Out Of Jail Free - When revealed, this card is stored on Mr Monopoly. When no progress level is completed, the card will be used to keep Mr Monopoly on the screen for one more spin. If the first progress is complete, this card is used in a spin where Mr Monopoly does not collect any Monopoly Money to keep him on the reel for one more spin.
  • Inherit Multiplier - Adds a random multiplier value of x2 to x5 to Mr Monopoly. If he already has a multiplier, the Inherit Multiplier value is added to it.
  • Big Win - Awards up to 15x the stake.

Railroad Bonus

The bonus scatter symbol lands on the leftmost reel only. Landing the scatter when Mr Monopoly is in view randomly triggers either hold & respin or free spins. If Mr Monopoly has a multiplier when this happens, it transfers to the bonus round. During the bonus, Chance cards may land on reels 1-4. If Bank Error is revealed and it swaps Monopoly Money symbols that have their values increased by a Bank Pays You Dividend card, any dividend increments are kept and applied to the base value of the new Monopoly Money symbols.

Free Spins

This bonus round starts with 7 free spins where the Mr Monopoly symbol is locked to the rightmost reel for the full duration. Scatters cannot land in this feature, but the Get Out Of Jail card awards +2 free spins.

Hold & Respin

The Hold & Win starts with 3 respins. Only Monopoly Money or Chance symbols may land, and they reset the spins count when they do. Mr Monopoly and Monopoly Money symbols are sticky till the round ends. The Get Out Of Jail card increases the number of respins by +1. The feature ends when no spins are left or the grid is filled. Then the Monopoly Money prizes are awarded.

Feature Buys

The two bonus round features may be bought. The Hold & Respin costs 20x while free spins cost 50x the bet. Bought features play as if all progress levels are complete, before returning to the current state of progress when they end.

Monopoly Money Magnate: Slot Verdict

It seems that Red Tiger and fellow studio NetEnt are locked in a game of license tennis at the moment. In a flurry of houses and hotels, we've recently ploughed through Monopoly Cash is King, Monopoly Rent Rush, Monopoly Money Line, and now, boom, Monopoly Money Magnate. Wannabe property tycoons must be loving this Monopoly bonanza as both studios pull out the stops to squeeze maximum value out of the license. As for Monopoly Money Magnate, the title feels slightly off in a slot with such modest ambitions. It is visually pleasant, capturing the upscale vibes of London's Park Lane, but the gameplay is rather basic and a better fit for players not after high-octane gambling.

The long list of Chance cards and their direct links to the board game is a positive element, nicely linking the two entertainment forms together. As for the rest, Monopoly Money Magnate is basically a money symbol collection game with a hold 'n' win tagged on. Not a particularly exciting hold 'n' win either, though Chance cards may add a spark of intrigue. Free spins are pretty average too, because while Mr Monopoly is locked to the fifth reel, doing so blocks the chance of getting 5 OAK wins. Unsurprisingly, all this leads to winning potential of 3,623x the stake, which sits on the low side for a 2026 slot from a major producer.

Still, the culmination of perky atmosphere, board game references, proven features, and the relatively inexpensive feature buys point to a slot aimed at gamblers who are happier strolling along Park Lane than ruthlessly owning it. In that regard, there is probably entertainment to be had from Monopoly Money Magnate, at least until the next one comes along, which, at this rate, might not be very far off.

Bigwinboard Summary

Monopoly Money Magnate is a pleasant but low-stakes Monopoly slot that offers familiar collect features and board-game charm better suited for casual fun than true magnate-level thrills.
