Moon Princess Extreme: Slot Overview
One of the most famous anime families in online slots has grown one larger due to an update from its maker, Play'n GO. The family in question is, of course, the Moon Princess range, which first dropped from the ether in 2017 and has since then not only seen its own lineup grow but has also inspired a number of offshoots such as Rise of Olympus 1000 and Sisters of the Sun. The studio struck gold when it designed the Sailor Moon-inspired digital world, helped by uniquely infectious gameplay which has entertained a lot of players over the years. All that has been stuffed back into Moon Princess Extreme like a cute cuddly plushie, with a couple of expanded elements granting it 'Extreme' status.
The artwork has stayed consistent over the years, and if you cover up the title, it can be hard to tell one Moon Princess slot from the others. Not necessarily in a bad way, as each game in the series is soaked in a dreamy, up in the clouds, flying amongst the stars vibe that successfully brings players back for more. The three Princesses are central figures, and one appears next to the reels, as they take turns bestowing Girl Power features from time to time. At this stage, there isn't much on screen to really distinguish Moon Princess Extreme from its siblings, which was to be expected, except, if you peer at the multiplier trail on the lefthand side, the max value is rather large indeed.

Moon Princess Extreme is played on a 5x5 gaming area where players win by landing 3 or more matching symbols in a horizontal or vertical line anywhere on the grid. Winning symbols are removed, and remaining symbols drop down, but new symbols do not refill the reels. Gamblers are dealing with a highly volatile slot, one which takes bets of $/€0.10 to $/€100 and has a maximum RTP of 96.2%.
The pay symbols are that circular thing, stars, hearts, bells, and the three Princesses, Storm, Star, and Love. Princess symbols pay 1.5x for a 5 OAK hit, while the other symbols are worth up to 0.5x the bet. Combinations of any 5 Princess symbols are worth 1x the stake. Wilds substitute for all symbols, and a line of five wilds pays 2.5x. Wilds are placed on the grid when certain combinations are removed, and they are cleared from the grid if no other symbols are remaining.
Moon Princess Extreme: Slot Features

Not much will be new here, as we cover the win multiplier, Girl Powers, Trinity spin, free spin, and grid clearance rewards.
Features
- Win Multiplier - The win multiplier starts at x1 and increases by one step on each drop, up to a maximum of x1,000. It persists through cascading wins but resets at the end of each base game spin.
- Girl Power - Girl Power may trigger at random on non-winning spins. The current princess on the screen performs her power to help create a win. Star adds 1 or 2 wild symbols, Storm removes two sets of symbols, and Love converts one set of symbols.
- Trinity - The meter next to the grid is charged by landing Princess symbol wins. A 3, 4 or 5 OAK win fills 1, 2, or 3 sections of the meter, respectively. When the meter is full, the Trinity feature is awarded. Love, Star, and Storm activate their Girl Powers in one free spin. If the grid is cleared during Trinity, free spins are triggered.
- Clear Grid - Clearing all the symbols from the grid, except during the Trinity feature, awards 20x the bet. This payout is affected by the current win multiplier.
Free Spins
Before the round starts, players choose their preferred Princess. During free spins, the chosen Girl Power triggers on every non-winning spin, and the multiplier meter does not reset. Filling the meter awards extra free spins up to a maximum of 100.

Moon Princess Extreme: Slot Verdict
Play'n GO has chosen not to fix what wasn't broken when making Moon Princess Extreme, opting for expansion of certain elements rather than a total overhaul, or any new overhaul really. The core gaming has remained basically intact; there are no odd rules to digest or crazy new features to come to terms with. For fans of the long-running series, the atmosphere remains a comforting Sailor Moon embrace, dipped in celestial hues and cosmic realms. However, beneath the dreamy surface, Moon Princess Extreme is a highly volatile machine capable of throwing out a varied ride of soaring highs, bumpy lows, and the largest winning potential seen in a Moon Princess game.
Meaning, on paper at least, Moon Princess Extreme has a max win of 50,000x the bet, eclipsing Origin's 20K figure by a long shot. Will it ever happen is the question (how often have you seen a PnG max win anyway?), and the game only really has one extra trick to make it so. That is its win multiplier, blowing out to a dizzying x1,000 at the end of the trail, and since the multiplier doesn't reset during free spins, well, good luck with it. Putting the 'what ifs and could bes' aside, Moon Princess Extreme's gameplay is as infectious as ever. The cascading, wild adding, multiplier growing combo is still a good one, years later, and clearing the board remains a gripping challenge. The Girl Powers and their wielders add to the charm.
Moon Princess Extreme is a straight power-up that doesn't aim to reinvent anything, preferring to spin what it's got faster and harder. As a result, if your ethos is bigger means better, then Moon Princess Extreme should be an enticing entry in one of Play'n GO's most recognisable series. It leaves the base formula essentially untouched, while giving big-figure-focused gamblers an amplified version of what made the original entertaining in the first place.
Moon Princess Extreme lacks fresh new ideas, but it provides big win chasers with major moonshot potential, theoretically at least.
